Mini rant: The touch screen should be used more in acnh

Custom Design should've been a given! I would also like to see it for the crafting menu and, it's not going to happen, but it would be cool to have touch features for things like shoveling up flowers. It's already a grid system so...

Were they just not anticipating people to play it on the small screens? Why are the keyboard and the bulletin board the only things you can use with the touch screen in this game lol it's absurd. In fact why has the touch screen been neglected on the Switch as a whole?

I want to be able to tap the map in the bottom-right corner and have that open my map app. I want to be able to tap the icons on my NookPhone and have them open/function, as well as swipe to see the next page - it's a touchscreen smartphone, isn't it??. I want to be able to tap the reactions I want to use in the big menu full of them. I want to be able to tap and scroll through the things in the Nooklings' cabinet, on the ABD machine in RS, on the crafting menu... Wouldn't mind drag n' drop for my pockets either! And of course, I would actually enjoy designing more and do it more often if I could just put a stylus to it!

Its ridiculous how little touch screen is utilized when the functionality is there, especially for custom designs!! I have no clue how ppl are managing to make such detailed designs without getting really bad hand cramps lol

i wish, i'm so bad at making custom designs as is, i don't need the added difficulty of not being able to actually draw them ):

Every time I try to make a custom design this makes me angry. It is very difficult for me doing it now. Kills my hands after awhile.

It‘s just odd that it’s not an option. I don’t understand it.

I'm guessing they didn't bother due to the existence of the dock. It's not like the 3DS where the touchscreen is ever-present for all players, a large chunk of the playerbase has the system docked at all times which lessens the effectiveness of any touch controls implemented.

Honestly, it really bothered me that the touchscreen isn't even being utilized to its full advantage. It would make some aspects of the game so much easier, especially crafting since I could just tap my screen rather than constantly pressing buttons nonstop.

At least with typing though, you have the ability to use the touchscreen, that's one aspect they certainly got right!

Agree. Nintendo just likes to pretend like that option doesn't exist. I only have one non-Nintendo game I can even use the touchscreen properly.

I figurwd the whole game would be in touch screen, boy was i a fool!! but i agree, it should b incorporated more, and you’d think it would b with making custom designs?? sheesh!!

I also wish we could use it for inventory reorganization as well! That was one thing I did a lot in NL that is just a pain in NH. That and custom designs are the big 2 I miss the most.

RIGHT? This is so irritating. There's touch screen functionality but it isn't utilised for patterns, or menus, or anything else! It's ridiculous.. Why only go halfway with the implementation? Especially leaving out pattern making?? I used to love designing outfits in New Leaf but I never do any more in New Horizons because I hate using the D-pad/sticks. I really don't understand their logic. I feel like everything is kind of inconsistent. Like even stack amounts - sometimes it's 10, sometimes 30, sometimes 99 lol. It's like they pulled features out of a bag XD Like okay will pattern making have touch screen functionality? *pulls paper out of hat* *reads paper* "No." Well that's that! lol

The first time I did a custom design I was super surprised that touch screen was not an option. You would think that something that would require designing/drawing something would utilize the feature. It would make designing so much easier if I could just draw it out with my finger or a stylus. Use of the touchscreen would also be convenient for something like setting down paths(you could maybe draw a line and the character will plop the paths within that line?) and it would just make sense with how the phone is set up as a smartphone device. Obviously touchscreen features wouldn't be a requirement for docked users, but it would still be nice to have as an option.

It's a shame that Nintendo as a whole ignores the touchscreen with switch games. I really can't remember the last time where I actually used the touchscreen.

I think it would have been useful if the touch screen could be used for more as an option. It's strange that it isn't. I personally never liked to use the DS touchscreens, but I don't mind on the Switch and it certainly is better for typing.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.

I want a touch screen so bad!! It would make designing and selecting an item in the inventory so much faster! I want a stylus back because when I type to people, my fingers leave fingerprints and it's annoying.

Kind of weird to not have that functionality. Especially after Wild World and New Leaf.

I know. I sometimes would find myself trying to touch the items in my inventory because I am used to doing it in New Leaf. Not the only shot they missed I suppose. I mostly play tv mode now though since my joy cons drift so bad but my pro controller is great.
