May 11, 2019: Goodbye, Gruff
Well, it's been a while since I updated this thread. Don't worry, you haven't missed out on anything. In fact I haven't played for about a month. Luckily I'm back now, and plan on making regular updates. Maybe not daily, but they will definitely be frequent. This post is going to be a long one, so grab a drink and get comfortable. We're going to be here a while.

Ugh, how long was I asleep for? The town looks quite different, not a good sign...
Huh?
Whatever, I'll do it later. I'm going back to sleep.
May 7:
I wake up to discover my house is infested with cockroaches! It took a while, but eventually I was able to get them all.
Finally, those little pests are gone. I can't believe that while I was sleeping they managed to get in my house like that.
With my house slightly cleaner, I went to talk to my neighbors. After a month of being gone, they certainly missed me.
Wart Jr. seemed alright with my absence.
Sadly, there was one villager I was not able to talk to. During the time I was gone, Gruff had decided to leave Fireleaf.
He had been a such good help in planning the town, but I suppose he decided to move on. Was he disappointed in my leadership? I may never know, but I promise to do better from now on. Gruff shall always be remembered for his help during the early days of Fireleaf. One day I hope to fulfill his dream and make the town into somewhere truly worth living.
I will probably arrange for something to be built in the area where Gruff's house used to be. It will have to wait though. We still have the bridge project to work on, which appears to have stagnated. Some residents are calling it to be scrapped completely, something very discouraging to hear. This is the first major project since I became mayor, and it would not be good to have it fail like this.
On a lighter note, Redd is in town with some new artwork!

Apparently while I was gone, Egbert had been working on something he called truly groundbreaking. I know how dedicated this rooster is to his favorite radio show, so if he transferred that passion to something else he could be a truly terrifying force. I guess that time is now. Behold... Missing-Sock Hotline!
He says something like this could help so many people. Apparently he did a lot of research on this issue.
I agree to help him.
Well, my day just became a lot busier. Especially since after receiving the signature sheet, I found a mitten just laying on the ground. Someone must have lost it.
I'm sure the owner won't mind if I hold onto it for a while. I have to get these signatures first.
If I'm going to another town, I can't look so disheveled. Better visit Shampoodles before I leave.
Well... That was an experience. That machine sure is effective, I'll give it that.
I like this building. Shame I usually don't have any reason to go here.
Apparently while I was gone, an entire generation of caterpillars were born and molted into butterflies.
From now on I'm going to document every new fish/insect I catch, starting with this tiger butterfly. I will make sure the one going to my Museum is always the one shown in the picture.
With Gruff gone, I'm going to need someone else to take his place. From the looks of things, Robin is going to be that villager.
Unfortunately I was never able to find a town to collect signatures. Sadly, the future of Missing-Sock Hotline is looking rather bleak...

Now for the moment I've been dreading.
At least Egbert managed to get some signatures himself. I wish the best for Missing-Sock Hotline, even if its future is uncertain. I just wish I could have done more.
Now that I'm not working on the petition, I have time to find the owner of that item I found yesterday.

Glad I was able to find the owner. I certainly didn't expect Kid Cat to be the one, but I've learned not to question his antics.
The loud bloom tee looks kind of nice on me. I've been thinking of having a summer outfit, and maybe this shirt could become a part of that. For now though, I'm staying in my argyle knit shirt.
Oh no, my home is a complete mess. I wouldn't want to disappoint Canberra though. I mean, she was just thinking about moving. I reluctantly accept.
Also, why are we discussing this in front of Wart Jr.'s house?
When I said my home is a complete mess, I wasn't exaggerating. I plan on decorating it once it's fully expanded, but for now it's whatever you could call this.

Well, that happened. After Canberra left, I realize Robin still needs to replace her furniture. Suddenly, I have an idea! I promptly head over to Re-Tail...

On that note, time to conclude this massive post. Something this big is definitely going to be the exception and next post won't be nearly as large. (This legitimately took hours to make so I'm not doing that on a regular basis.)

Wow, I'm sorry you spent hours creating this post, but I enjoyed it! I love the way you describe your town and villagers. It gives even the most minor, run-of-the-mill events such personality. Glad to see this thread making a come back.

May 12: Happy Mother's Day
Today I woke up unusually early. It's actually morning right now. Glad I did, since it's beautiful outside right now. Not a cloud in sight. Robin and I have a nice conversation.
Well I was enjoying the lovely weather, but I'd be fine visiting Robin if it makes her happy. I agree to go.
We were already right outside her house, so it wasn't a long walk there.
I've been here before, but I think the layout has changed slightly.
Glad Robin is enjoying her "new" timpano drum.
Oh yes, I know exactly what I want...

With my prize secured, I decide to go back outside.
I say her place is really nice.
I'm being completely genuine, Robin.
Well, do whatever you want. I just think your place is fine the way it is.
Clearly this timpano drum is meant to be with me. For now it shall join the wasteland that is my house, but one day it will receive a proper home.
I almost forgot that today is Mother's Day! I better check my mail.
Haven't heard from my mother in a while. She was nice enough to send me a carnation. These are actually very common where I used to live, but I have never seen one grow in Fireleaf. I will plant it somewhere in the town for everyone to enjoy. I'll keep it with me until I find a good place for it.
This yellow bench is surprisingly comfortable. Very glad I decided to build one.
I suppose after being gone for so long, it's easy to develop that kind of reputation.

Why does seemingly everyone in this town want to visit my house right now?!

Well, I'm going to have quite a bit of time before 10PM. Better find something to do.
I decide to take a trip to Main Street. Kicks had some nice stuff in stock today.
These could go well with the rest of my outfit.
Sure, some socks are probably a good idea.
Here's the bottom of those wooden clogs which you couldn't really see in the store. I was a bit intimidated by the word "wooden" but they aren't as uncomfortable as it sounds. In fact I could get used to wearing these.
To pass the time, Bertha and I decide to go fishing. Apparently she happens to be a very good angler.
Whoa, this one's a fighter! Nearly knocked me over.
That was quite fun. Bertha didn't catch anything herself, but her advice was greatly appreciated (I probably would have lost that black bass without her around).
We decide to rest at Bertha's house for a while.
When I said Bertha was a good angler, I wasn't kidding. Apparently she caught that fish herself. I hope I catch one of those some day.
I'm glad Bertha and I were able to find the time to do that. It helped me become more competent at fishing as well.
Shouldn't we wait until Robin leaves?

I realize now that "robin" isn't capitalized. That's going to bug me whenever I hear it now...
I know, it's my special talent. Just wish it wasn't within earshot of Robin.

May 13: Fruitful Findings
Time for a comparatively short post after the last two veritable walls of images. I'm sure that will be fairly refreshing, both for myself and everyone reading.
This afternoon Chrissy and I decided to visit Re-Tail. I didn't see anything of value (I'm still recovering from Robin's timpano drum), but Chrissy found something she really liked.
Sure, I think it would go well in your room. It doesn't look horribly damaged either, especially for such a low price.
Even if I didn't find anything, that makes the trip worth it for me.
Glad you found something nice.
Alright, this day is shaping up to be a lot of item collection. Oranges are nearby though, so it's not too much effort.
I hope Canberra wasn't planning on using those oranges for anything.
