May Day maze - question about prize

I finished the maze, talked to Rover, and went through the conversation, honestly not paying a lot of attention to what he said. I don't remember him mentioning the prize (I know what it is). It's not in my inventory at the maze, but I'm afraid to leave in case I'm missing something and won't have another chance to get it.

Try and talk to the Dodo and see if he mentions the briefcase.

You get a briefcase which is taken before you leave. It then instantly arrives in the mail as soon as you are back on your Island....

Found it after I talked to Dodo. i swear it wasn't there before. Weird.
