I know many people want to decorate as much as possible and sometimes can go overboard and parts of the island begins to lag/drop frames.

Does anyone know what the maximum amount of items/flowers that can be placed before it lags and how it's calculated?

Since it drops frames by certain sections, I assume its limited by the amount of things in each acre maybe?

Though, I noticed that placing bugs/fish/sea creatures in one concentrated area begins to lag too. Most likely because they're animated...

I don't know, but I've had the problem since the day of the bug tourney. I got rid of all the flowers in the area tonight and it didn't help (but it did drop me down to 4-stars). Has anyone else had the problem since the bug-off? I have tried getting rid of all of the hedges in the area and taking away furniture, but it still lags. It only happens during the times villagers are active. When they start to go to bed, it smooths out. Right before the bug-off, I did completely redo the area in the background of the lag area. Short of taking every single thing in the area down, I haven't been able to narrow it down.

My game has always lagged.

Especially in the center of the map.

30fps. :-/

mine (furniture/flowers/bushes/anything on the ground) are pretty much scattered, and it still takes a while sometimes to load all the items so idk if you call that the lag. i think that's what y'all are saying right? but i don't think they are even that even plenty in one concentrated area to begin with.

i'm confused as to why it is happening for most of us because isn't the game designed for us to actually have something at least in every block of the island? there's bushes, flowers, trees, paths etc aside from furniture--we just can't help it. i guess we need to do get rid of the overgrown flowers but like, let's say you leave it blank. a fossil could still appear on it, or weed, or flowers on its own due to excessive rain. i could understand bugs & fishes making it lag though because they're animated, but aren't flowers animated in a way as well?

edit: obviously i didn't mean that our islands are designed be completely full, we'd have open spaces to walk on and, free areas so stuff could spawn but i think even on areas where it's not even that full, i have noticed certain lagging.

I feel like certain parts of my island lag while others are ok. I also have some pop-in (idk if this is the right term) where items just suddenly load and pop up on the screen. I would also like to know if there is an item / flowers / trees limit because I'm worried when I walk through these parts of my island lol...

In a normally decorated island there shouldn't be any particular number of a single thing that determines lag. Animated items like hedges, fish, bugs, flowers, trees, etc add to it especially if it's windy or stormy. Waterfalls. The number of characters in one area may add to it (especially if they're at the Resident Services plaza). Items that give out lighting probably add to it (floor lights, etc.). Large objects add to it, like the monster and the robot. Too much clutter in one area adds to it. In my experience the area around Resident Services is more likely to see lag so keep that very open if you want zero lag ever, and even then don't quote me on that.

I've never had an issue with lag and my islands decently packed. Weird!

Yeah! I've experience this where some parts pops in. It's distracting.... haha

I didn't realize other things besides furniture/flowers could cause lag, but it would make sense that lighting would be a big factor considering how much it differs from interior lighting. Good tip!

Teach me your ways! Haha I'm being extremely cautious when decorating. The game lagging is a big no no for me. I hate the feeling that my game might crash

I haven't managed to get any lagging problems personally. I'm curious to know the answer to this, if less for the flowers and more for the number of trees I've been collecting as I go along.
