Marty question

I just saw someone have Marty in their town. I know he can come in a RV but is he also avalible to live or did that person hack their town do to that? If so i want to go to retail and see if anyone has marty to give

The Sanrio (and Legend of Zelda) villagers move in via Amiibo card and cannot be adopted from someone else's town, unfortunately. :c I have Marty in my town actually---you invite his RV via scanning the card then talk to him from there so he moves in.

From what I know by googling they can move in like other amiibo characters if you have their card, but you can't get them from other people's towns
