Marshal's popularity?

Why is Marshal so popular? I think it must be a status thing, like " Oh, you have Marshal, you must be super rich or super lucky, either way, lets be friends" Does anybody actually know why he is so popular?

the model of Marshal just happens to have a look to it that many people find attractive, more so than most of the other character models in the game. it is purely aesthetic. not everyone will like him, obviously, but that's life. not everyone will like the same thing, but the majority of a group can.

I'm not rich or lucky and I got Marshal. When you have a new town, I think the first or second villager that auto. wants to move in will be an uchi or a smug. I plot resetted for couple hours so that I would get him!

I personally don't understand why hes so popular. Yeah hes cute, fluffy, and looks like a marshalmallo-wait.

I think majority think hes cute/smug/kawaii/whatever. Also the fanart looks amazing too.

I really doubt people want Marshal to go around and show everyone lucky/rich they are.

He is very cute, his smug personality suits him and he's a freaking squirrel! I love them in AC, not so much in real life.
He doesn't have the most original design, though.

So no, it's not a status thing. Some villagers are just more well liked than others. Beau is another one, and it's because once again, he's one of the most attractive animals in the game to a lot of people.

I have Marshal because he is cute. I like to have a cute villager from every personality. That is my preference. I have to see the critters in my town everyday so it should have villagers that make me happy Besides when you see that little cutie smile at you..... love it...

1. Status, like you pointed out. He's become a symbol of being rich and successful and of having a "complete" town.
2. He's a squirrel, a generally popular species.
3. He has a brooding, moody face. Just take a look at the media - brooding, moody men sell well.

I kind of disagree of the "personality fits his looks" thing. I just can't imagine him doing the "Shoom!" bit when you talk to a smug with that angry face.

Am I the only one who doesn't see him as a cranky type? @-@ I think Static fits that role more than Marshal so smug for him def.

Possibly his color choice, face design, that hair (I prefer villagers with that little bit of hair), smug and idk. Ask the Nintendo team.

I agree. I think it is a bit of the status thing plus the "jump on the bandwagon" phenomenon.
Personally, I don't think his looks fit the "smug" personality at all and he'd be a better cranky. Although he's cute, there are some other characters who are just as (if not more) cute but not nearly as popular.
