Yea, I would prefer it to be F.L.U.D.D only as well. It's nice that Splatoon is doing so well without having to slap Mario in it, I would prefer it to stay that way.
Don't the Mario Amiibos (SSB/SMW) both work exactly the same? I would have though both of them would unlock Mario if it were real, not just SMW.

The Mushroom world hardly has any humans, though. In Splatoon, the scrolls show what's supposed to be Earth after 12,000 years, which means Mario couldn't be apart of it as he Sunshine doesn't take place on Earth.
What I'm more concerned about is, not including the time spent in the capsule, how Judd has been a live for more than 2,000 years, same with Captain Cuttlefish and the final boss (at least with those two you could say they evolved to somehow live that long, but Judd's supposed to be a present day cat).
