Mario Kart 7 Confirmations?

I have looked at Google and YouTube and found not too much regarding the actual confirmations, so I have come on to The Bell Tree to ask, just what is the total number characters and total number of courses that have been confirmed. (Please say what they are named too)

I'd like Mario Kart 7 more if it had the same amount of characters and courses as Mario Kart Wii, maybe more.
