maple camping. is having 3 normals/sweet too much?

she's my first camper in WEEKS! my island is full, with 2 sweet villagers already fauna & marina, but i'm tempted to invite maple to replace someone *side eyes rodney*

is having too many normal villagers a bit boring? they're kinda vanilla but i enjoy having them because they're so sweet. what does everyone feel about this personality?
i think there's a lot of them that are popular dreamies, but do they really have 2-3 of them at the same time? i've never really had this much before. my favorite will probably be lolly & mitzi, but i've had mitzi on new leaf and i don't really wanna replicate my old town.

It depends on you! personally I'm not a huge fan of them because they are a bit vanilla, the only normal I have ATM and prob will ever have is skye

honestly i think normal is the only personality where i don't see them all the same like i have marina and merengue and i love talking to marina and really don't like merengue but i'm sure i've never seen them have the same dialogue so i'd probably be fine having multiple normal villagers

tbh you're right, considering they're so "normal" the conversations i have with them on new horizons aren't that repetitive. yeah, they're sweet but i have 2 right now that even lives near each other but they don't seem that similar. ughhh they're ALL so cute, once i have invite maple i'm gonna have a problem letting who go

The only thing I would say is have one of each type until you get all reactions. Then do whatever you like. Reactions can be locked to specific villager types. My final town for example will have no jocks, so I made sure to get all the jock reactions before letting one go.

I have a similar problem. I have 4 normal villagers at the moment and like all of them so having a tough time to decide who to let go so that I can have all personalities. Perhaps what you can do is invite her to replace Rodney then decide later down the road if you want to replace any of them.

Coincidentally, I have Marina, Fauna and Maple in my town haha! I love them all so much. Personally, normal is the only personality type I would rather have more of (followed by snooty). I might let one of them go further down the line but we'll see, at the moment I don't find having 3 normals bad at all

As long as you don't have the 'stronger' personalities, e.g peppy or jock, I think you'll be fine.

I have 4 peppy villagers, and it's honestly very boring. Constant repetitive dialogue, I'll talk to one villager and get the exact same text from another villager in the span of 30 seconds. Usually, I'll get 3+ mentions of the moon in a day, which is very annoying once you've heard it about a million times before.

FOUR? wow. tbh, i see normal's quite often. won't be shocked if a lot of town have a lot of them.

awww... what a coincidence! they're ALL so cute, how can i choose right? maybe in the future lol. but i'd definitely try to invite her, see if she'd consider replacing rodney haha i've been trying to walk by him so often to see if he'll think of moving but he never does. maybe it's my chance.

as someone advised, i should have 1 of each personality but i'm planning to have marshal as smug anyway for my permanent villagers so i guess i'll be good.

true that! but i wanna hear people's thoughts on having multiple of normal villagers, i'm shocked i'm getting plenty of responses regarding this that was based on their experience. seems like normal's are common. the consensus seems like they're not as repetitive as jocks & peppies.

I’m actually planning on having 3 normals on my island. It’s one of the only personality types I could tolerate in large amounts, because it’s not a personality that’s totally in your face and repetitive. Just go with whatever feels right.

kinda with you on that, not sure about more than 3, but i don't get annoyed at them like most players do. they're funny.

I'll be letting go of one of my crankies though as I do feel it's a bit of an overkill.
I might need to give up on one personality type in the long-run if Nintendo doesn't allow for more villagers in future updates (I still really hope they do).

I currently have Marina and Pekoe. Both of them are pretty much the same to me and I guess I just got unlucky with the two of them getting the same subclass.

btw is it risky if i let her choose? i know there's a trick to quit and not save, but i haven't tried this yet. what if it autosaved literally right after she said who, and it happened to be punchy?

I have Fauna, Marina, Maple, and Ellie right now. They are all so adorable, but it’s a bit much. They all generally say the same things to me every day. I’ve noticed that they like different activities though: Ellie likes checking out the plants, Maple likes reading, Marina likes to sing or visit the museum, and Fauna likes to just wander around or chat with Bangle. I don’t think I’ll end up keeping them all because I really want more varied dialogue (and because I have the amiibo for my favorite Sylvana), but it’s going to be so hard to boot any of them!

Given how repetitive the dialogue is (I think Normals are the worst offenders of this tbh), 3 may be a lot. Even 2 of any personalities in my town feels really awkward which stinks because at minimum there will be 2 personalities that double up (3 for me since I don't want an uchi). Really stinks because most of my favorite villagers are normals / lazies so Id have a town full of them if the dialogue wasn't as shallow
