I just got the mummy's casket from Gulliver, and I want to put it in Lucky's house but I don't know how to get him to take it. If I mail him it, will he put it in his house?

There's a chance that he will put it in his house but it's not guaranteed... sometimes I send a villager fruniture and they don't put it in... best bet is to wait for them to ask for furniture or make sure they have an empty space to put it in before mailing it..

You could try sending five of that item. That should do it, but the only issue is that there may be duplicates lying around.
He might but it's not guaranteed. In addition to the methods people have suggested above, you can save your game shortly before a mail round and post the letter with the item attached. Then, a few minutes after the mail would have arrived, visit his house and check if he put up the casket and where. If he didn't put it up or if you're unhappy with the placement, reset your game. I do this by mailing things after 4:50 PM and waiting until a few minutes after 5 to check. I've noticed that if I enter the villagers' houses at 5 PM exactly, sometimes they won't have displayed the items yet, and sometimes I need to go out and go back inside to see any changes.
