so as the title says, ive lost the interest in playing AC. ive been playing a lot of other games that that ive been neglecting both my towns, and they are still far from completing. anyone been through his before? how did you get back into the game?

I stopped playing for about a year and picked it back up in October. I only started playing again because I started collecting the amiibo cards and remembered I had this game. Whats kept me playing is having actual goals to work toward (collect photos & design my town). So far, I'm nowhere near complete but I don't force myself to play. Also, I got my mom a 3ds and the game for Christmas and we've been playing together. I think its more fun to have someone to play with and discuss the things that happens in your town.

Yeah, I lost interest in ACNL late last summer, and just picked it up in December. For me it was the perfectionism that killed my fun; I was tired of stressing over landscaping and that one area that just didn't fit and worrying about my paths not being right, perfect house placement, etc. I got back into it to kill exam stress so I just focused on acquiring badges instead, which led me back into every day playing and not just frantic landscaping. It's a lot more fun when you don't worry about making every pixel EXACTLY right.

When I get bored there really isn't much I can do to make me suddenly go back, unless I go back and realize something that needs work. Like my entire town. I left my original town for like a year, and I must've changed rather than my town, because I couldn't stand to live there anymore. I didn't even want to repair the town I already had. So, I restarted my entire town, and to be honest I've never been so motivated to keep playing before. I'd made my peace with resetting my old town and wanted to make the new town amazing. It kind of hurt actually. Resetting my first new leaf of almost 2 years. I never regretted it though. :)

I've never actually QUIT the game, but from time to time my interest wanes a little and I might skip a day or two. When that happens, I re-set one of my towns and that renews my interest. I really like the initial parts of the game, while I am still paying off my mortgages, getting to know the villagers, building PWP's, and so on.

I stopped playing for almost 6 months once because I was too busy with monster hunter and a number of other games :3 I didn't force myself to play (which ruins the fun for me) and just played when I finally felt like it :3 I got super into it again partly because there was so much to do that was outside my normal routine when I got back. I had tons of weeds to pick, lots of unwanted flowers to remove, everyone wanted to talk to me, I got a lot of pings for stuff... It was nice c: So take a break and play when it sounds fun again.
