Lord of the Rings

I'm not a super fan of Lotr, but I really enjoyed watching the movies (all the book readers out there are probably shaking their heads in disappointment lol) of both lotr and the hobbit!

I am not shaking my head in disappointment at all! I have read the books twice and am due for a third reading... and I adore the movies! Most people thought it was an impossible series to translate to the big screen but Peter Jackson did an amazing job! Obviously, like any movie based on books there are details and characters left out that the hardcore fans will get picky about, but I think the movies are fantastic.

At least I feel that way about The Lord of the Rings... The Hobbit trilogy had its moments but I feel like it tried too hard to please fans of the movies (Legolas?). Although I really did enjoy the parts with Smaug.

I was told by someone I know at work that they shrew up the Hobbit movies

I am assuming thats a typo? If its a new phrase, I apologize for shrewing up 😆

The Hobbit was a short read that Tolkien wrote for his children. The movies went too epic with it, in my opinion.

Haha true, Legolas was definitely shoehorned in there for the sake of appealing the movies to his fans 😂 cinematically, it was a good trilogy, but it definitely dragged on a bit too long; though I haven't read it yet, when I bought the Hobbit book after watching the movies and it was so small, I thought I'd only gotten the first part of the "series" lol!

I'm super curious to hear your thoughts on the The Hobbit book vs the movies, if you ever get around to reading it!

I have read the Hobbit. When I started this discussion. I had no clue there were fans on here! @lasagne_of_death , @-Blue- , and myself were talking about it so I made this but nice to know I have inspired @S.J. to reread the series
