It seems that someone managed to get a villager they accidentally lost back without cycling 16 by picking them up with a new human character that was made after the villager had left their town. If this works, this is huge news!!
They mentioned they cycled 12 before attempting to pick him up, so I wonder with a new character if you have to cycle less or none?
From the way it sounds, a new character would have no memory or experience with that past villager, so you can bypass the whole cycle.
I know so many people have accidentally lost villagers they loved and cycling 16 can be so hard...I figure this is worth looking into!
