Yeah -- that's what I've encountered as well. I had four spaces between my Mayor's house and a bridge and it was a no-go. So judging from your picture, Red Cat, I don't recommend trying it. Looks a bit risky to me.

Dang. I don't really have a lot invested in that character, so I could just demolish the house and rebuild it, but cleaning out his closet would be a pain in the butt. I hope the police station is far enough out of the way if I decide to do that.

What I don't understand is that you can build something two spaces away from a bridge, but if you want to build a bridge near something there's never enough space. Also, villagers can move close by a bridge, but if you want to build a bridge by a house, you can't really do that either. :/ What I've learned is that buffer zones cannot overlap. When building a new bridge, its buffer zone is larger for some reason. Bridges are two spaces wide and four spaces long, and the buffer zone goes all the way around. Building public works projects near an existing bridge follows the two spaces in-between rule.
