What sort of theme or design were you going for with your island and how difficult was it for you to achieve? Were there any specific items that you found were more difficult than others to get? Any specific resources you used for custom patterns and designs?

I went with an overall reaching nature meets got his horror theme. Very much still a work in progress for myself. But the amount of time and energy I'm spending made me curious about some of the other islands and struggles that might be out there.

I’m going for a natural/cottagecore theme. I’ve been obsessed with this theme even back in New Leaf! My island isn’t finished but I can really say that it’s hard to achieve it especially if you lack imagination/willpower to create brand new ideas. I’ve spent almost 200 hours on this game and my island is only 25% done!

I'm trying to get an half "cute town" half deserted-island look. I'm really having trouble decorating my island, I don't know what items to use.
I like to get my custom patterns on Tumblr, I feel like it's easier to get them here (If any one you have any idea where I can get some patterns, especially from our eastern players that don't use a lot of western websites, I'd love to hear from it.)

So yeah, to me my island is just empty with a lot of random, not organized nature

I know what you mean. I've actually taken my island down to a single level with zero trees three times before settling onto a layout concept I think may work out.

I admit that I use ACNH Custom Designs on Discord for a lot of my custom designs. I found a really neat path there that worked well. But that sounds really cool! I find the deserted looks gets helps by a few weeds throughout. Maybe make a few walls with broken windows using the simple panels

Right now I'm trying to make it look like a farming village. I just wish there was more farming items to help me out a little. There's straw fencing & hay beds everywhere. I put some cardboard boxes & garbage items around my stores so it wouldn't feel too fancy lol.

I was aiming for symmetry, and felt it was more time consuming than difficult. I ran back and forth across my island making sure things matched precisely.

I honestly don't know what my theme is too well. It's a mix of city-like modern but also foresty with a lot of celestial elements and such. I use a lot of the celeste diy like the crescent moon chair and stuff for that

I'm going for a vintage-y Animal Crossing look. Basically, I'm trying to keep things relatively simple, without -tons- of terraforming (all mine has been done to enhance or slightly move the existing shapes of the island) to keep it feeling like an old school AC game. This comes a little bit from being too intimidated to do massive terraforming, but it's more about me not wanting to deviate TOO much from the older games, which I also loved (though ACNH is definitely my favorite already!)

I think using the DIY from Celeste can look really cool when places right. I'm particularly fond of the crescent moon chair mentioned.

I don't honestly know what i'm doing with my island. I have a neon area on my beach with a purple palm tree lamp, a purple pool, and galaxy flooring, but the rest of my island is completely normal, with some stone paths. I also set up a zen area on my island as well, just a lot of variety on my island lol

my island’s still a wip and i’m honestly not sure what to call my theme but it sort of has rustic vibes? except it’s more colourful with the pink hybrids and the fruit trees everywhere aha. i’ve just been using rustic to describe my theme even if it’s a bit more colourful than you’d typically see - there’s still a bunch of green and brown tones that help bring out the rustic vibes imo aha

i feel like the bottom half of my island (where rs is) and my mythical forest areas best fit the rustic theme as my vapourware backyard, carnival and celestial campsite don’t really scream “rustic” to me lmao so i guess my theme is just me throwing stuff together that i like and hoping it looks good lol

I’ve designed my island around the same concept. My island is still very much a forest, I’ve done very little terraforming and there are tons of bushes/trees/flowers between major attractions. Gives a real small town/country feel, like past games.

I'm pretty similar- though, admittedly, my developed areas are pretty developed. But I still make sure to have plenty of nature with trees and bushes and flowers lining paths and surrounding buildings! Honestly, the most terraforming I've done was probably when I demolished the cliff blocking access to Redd's beach (I wanted easier access, and already had an overlook area that looked even better when there was more open space around it). It gave me an easy path to go and check that area (though I threw up some trees and barbed wire fencing and signs to try and keep "innocent" villagers from wandering into his shady establishment 😉) AND it gave me a bit more room to expand my official "forest" area. I'm really happy with how it turned out!

Half of my island is going to be like a city while the other half is going to be suuuuper natural, like a cottagecore theme. I really like both of those kinds of islands so I just decided to do both of them... it probably won’t come out good but I’m still gonna try!

I'd be interested in seeing a pic or two on how well the two ideas blend into one another. It sounds really neat.

Tried going for a Mediterranean vibe for most of the my island and the rest of it would be English countryside, or so I think so. Overall, my island is just European themed. I don't think it was that hard, but wasn't as easy as doing cottage core or a Japanese themed island. Just had to get creative in how I use some of the items.

i'm going with a totoro theme!! my island is supposed to be a super lush forest with japanese touches~ and a bunch of little cute spots throughout the forest that add to the vibe i'm going for. i need lots of green fauna, so i'm mostly using bamboo, cut bamboo, cedar trees, weeds, and i'm adding cute little naturey items all throughout the forest.

Mine was very symmetrical & on the fancier side. I recently cleared the whole island and started redecorating (that took a whole day just to clear) Now I’m working towards fairy forestry but a touch of classy with a cafe and honey stand. So far I’ve only decorated less than 1/3 of my island & it’s really fun! I’m not sure it’s amAzing per say but I’m doing my best. ^_^ So glad I didn’t restart the game and went with this way.

A Japanese theme island, but I not sure with to go for.
I don't want to do a city, because I want a lots of trees (not like a forest) and other things.
