Lemon trees dying

Help! I planted 2 lemon saplings and they died, so I kicked up the pattern around them, leaving a 9x9 space around each sapling, and replanted some new ones. to my dismay, these one died too. What am I doing wrong?

You might have a "dead spot" in your town.It seems to be fairly common.Here's a link to a thread about it:
