I've been involved in Pokemon enough now to know that people tend to despise legendaries. "Too OP", "unfair". Yet I know that, in reality, some legendaries are outclassed by "non-legendaries".

I've always used base stat number to judge "OP" status, though there are no doubt other factors involved.

For instance, it is pretty obvious that this legendary here has a decent advantage when comparing base stats:
Swellow: 430
Giratina: 680

My problem with there being a "no legendaries at all" rule is that some "non-legendaries" are just as powerful as some uber legendaries. *Uber of course referring to the Smogon listing.

Latias: 600
Articuno: 580
Entei: 580
vs
Tyrannitar: 600
Gyarados: 540
Goodra: 600

So what do you guys think about legendaries on teams? Do you consider all legendaries to be unfair advantage, or only the "uber legendaries"? I think Nintendo seemed to have the right idea when they only ban the most powerful legendaries only from tournaments, but the player base doesn't seem to adopt this so easily.

I'm kind of attached to my suicune (580) for instance, but I never get to use it because people are all like "WAAHH UNFAIR" and then throw out their mega with 625.

I just usually say no Darkrai. It doesn't even have to attack to murder the other team. Arceus is also kind of annoying, but I'm fine with it as long as it's not the event one with Spacial Rend and Roar of Time. >.< I do abuse Manaphy, but it's all fine because Smogon says that he's Borderline! I also use Giratina, but I'm trying to replace him soon.

depends, if it's for the main story i don't use legendaries
but for competitive i do, as long as its withing the tier

Darkrai's are annoying as heck, but then again, whenever you put your oppenent to sleep it's a cheap win. My mega gengar has to save a slot for Sleep Talk because of all the cheap people out there who put you to sleep to whoop you.

Personally, I hate it when a person uses ONLY legendaries in their team. it gets aggravating to deal with the really bulky ones, like Kyruem, who withstand dazzling gleams from a +3 Sylveon. So I'm borderline.

I think it's completely fair to ban certain legendaries but, as you said, they should only be the legendaries that are overpowered or "?bers". I think one important reason is the fact that allowing all legendaries would not only encourage hacking but also penalise those people that don't. This is because it is extremely difficult (near impossible) in game to obtain a legendary with perfect IVs and the desired nature without hacking, while you can breed for IVs and nature with non-legendary pokemon.

So yeah, I think banning certain legendaries is a great equaliser between those that cheat and those that don't.

I despise people who only use legendaries on a team, there's plenty of other powerful Pokemon out there to use why limit yourself to legends?
