Learning to like hated villagers/letting them stay?

So basically, I absolutely detest Peggy, for many reasons: she's made Dotty, one of my favourite villagers, sad a few times, and also, she is my third peppy villager. I already have three normal villagers, so not only does that mean that I have a ton of villagers who share the same dialogue, but also, it means that I have no smugs or jocks! I really want to kick her out so that I can get Lyman, the jock koala, who I think is a major sweetheart.

On the other hand...

I've tried hitting her with the net/digging pitfalls/pushing her, and she still stays. I've tried ignoring her for days on end, and she still stays. I haven't had her for super long so maybe I'm simply not giving her enough time, but I feel like she is pretty set on staying. Not only that, but despite her making Dotty sad a lot, Dotty seems to consider Peggy her best friend, and I would feel so bad about separating her from her best friend. Plus, as much as Peggy annoys me, her design is very cute.

Have you ever tried to love a hated villager, and how did that go? Do you think I should keep persevering, or should I give in and try to like her?

Hmm, I usually don't look much into villager relationships much. I focus more on becoming friends with my villagers. I'm thinking just give in and try to like her.

*Being mean to a villager doesn't really help (pitfalls, digging holes, etc...)

I've heard that it helps to be nice to them if you want them to move out faster. Apparently friended villagers ping more?
