I'm going villager hunting tomorrow and am looking for either a dreamie or a lazy. Hornsby left a little under a month ago and I've missed lazy dialogue. Any good villagers you'd recommend? Not picky, I love all species!
I had Erik for awhile, he was a cutie pie! If you're going purely for popularity, both Sherb and Punchy are super popular. Personally, I like more obscure ones- I currently have Rex, who's a lazy lion. I just think it fits because, really, if you're going to give an adult male lion a fitting personality... lazy's probably gonna be it Also, Hopkins is pretty cute. He's literally an inflatable toy (though, for some reason, "play" is NOT his hobby) and his house is an arcade.
But, when I'm island hopping for lazies, I'm looking for Tucker. He's a super precious mammoth elephant and I'm still so mad at myself I didn't snap him up when I had the chance- but I wasn't looking for lazies at the time
I was going to recommend Hornsby when I clicked on this thread... Well, there goes that plan.
I've had Bones, he was alright. I liked Hornsby's sub-personality better, Bones just gave me too much dialogue about bugs but that could have been by chance. I mainly let Bones go because I had 3 lazies and that was too much...
Another alternative is Paolo, he's that pink elephant that not everyone likes, that's just up to preference I suppose
Beau is definitely my favourite lazy, his design and house just fits the personality type so well. The outside of his house is a log cabin style, and the inside is just like a little outdoot picnic area, and I find it really cute and fitting. Plus I also just love his character design and his little sleepy face, although I may have some bias because he kinda does look like me if I was put into animal crossing as a villager haha.
Chester, Boomer, Cube, Prince, Raddle, Tucker, Joey and Sherb. Honestly there are probably more that I could list I do love the lazies a great deal. Hope you find a great Lazy to take Hornsby's place!
papi, papi, and more papi!! i love him so much. i have him in NL and also own his amiibo card. overall i think the horses can just be kind of underrated tbh but they so cute and so is papi
My problem with lazies is that I love way too many of them. I currently have 3 on my island at the moment (Bones, Lucky, Bob). Here's my list of personal favorite lazies by species:
Dogs: Bones - My all time favorite villager. Lucky - My second favorite. Biskit - He's pretty unique looking and him starting with the Meme shirt is pretty hilarious imo.
Cats: Bob - Just something about him makes me smile every time I talk to him lol. Punchy - He's currently who I'm island hunting for as I want his photo. Super cool villager that I've had before, and can't wait to get him again.
Deer: Erik - He's just absurdly cute.
Cub: Stitches - A classic cute lazy.
Squirrel: Filbert - Super cute villager who has a really awesome house as well! I think he's a pretty underrated villager.
Goat: Sherb - Basically a lot of people's new favorite lazy. I've had him before for a while, and he's pretty cool.

I actually had him as one of my first villagers, and his house was more like a log cabin. His normal house is cute, but I'm not gonna lie, I kinda preferred the cabin interior! But I agree he's just precious.
Also, if you're looking for popularity in case you ever get rid of them, when I mentioned Erik was moving I IMMEDIATELY got interest. Sadly, he moved before I could find him a new home (despite me TTing), but I wouldn't have had any trouble trading/selling/whatever with him
Punchy is my number one favorite lazy. I’ve had him in NL as well in ACNH. His design reminds me a lot of a friend’s cat who I haven’t had a chance to see for a few years since my friend lived out of state and only fairly recently moved back. I love Punchy so much. His sassy appearance and the fact he’s a cat is what drew me to him originally (and I think I either started out with him in NL or he was one of my earliest random move ins). I just wish he didn’t talk about having bug friends in this game. Bugs are my biggest turn off
