Landscaping Help!

So I had a great path built alongside my house when sometime in late 2014, I had a villager plant their house directly on top of it. I have been trying to rebuild it since, but have had no luck.

Above is a picture of how I wanted my path to be built. There were only two dead spots in this path before, but are not in where the dead bush starts appear in this picture.

I have since planted flowers in the general area of where I have been encountering this issue as this has always been a great fix in previous installments of Animal Crossing.

If you guys have any suggestions on how I could fix this other than what I have posted, please let me know! Thanks!

I looks like you should be able to plant bushes there, you probably tried to plant too many new bushes next to old ones (when I do this they usually die so I just dig everything up and start over). You can only have 12 bushes in a row (or like a pattern of bushes, trees or bamboo all connecting) so maybe you have too many things in a row . If you have less than 12, I suggest you dig all bushes up and replant new ones. First plant in the places where they died and wait a day to see if they regrow if they do then plant the rest of the bushes. However if you do not want to dig all grown bushes up you could try planting one bush at a time next to the grown ones and see if that works.
