So I've gotten all of my dreamies. Now I just need to build my town. But I don't really know what to do. I mean what to do with like trees, bamboo, bushes, PWP's, etc. I'm not really sure how and where to place them. I would be very grateful if you could visit my dream town or give me tips! I have a quite a bit of bushes in my storage and a few tree saplings.
Would videos be helpful to you? I got great ideas for areas through watching dream addresses on YouTube or you can open up a dream review thread! Then you can review their towns and get inspiration along the way.
Take a picture of your map or draw it down on a piece of paper. Then use it as a basis to decide where you want what to go. Where do you think the PWPs would look good? For example, if you're setting down a bench, you can put it near a river, at the top of a cliff, in a miniature garden, etc. You can put down the paths between your home and your villagers' and common locations like bridges, Re-Tail, the town hall and so on. Decide which trees you want to keep and which ones you don't. You can store extra flowers on the beach, especially if you have a private beach on your map, or in your locker until you decide.
Are you trying to go for a certain look or theme, or do you have any looks you like? It's your town, so you should ultimately do what makes you happy. For example, some people use lots of patterns and flowers to decorate their towns, others choose a more natural look. Deciding that can help us give you advice on what you should do and help you decide which PWPs you want and where, as well as the flowers you want to keep and which ones you don't.
Congradulations on getting your dreamies! I would say try to invision what you want your town to look like, and then recreate that. Maybe it has a theme ?
Instead of trying to do the whole town right away, you might try focusing on a "feature" or two for a specific part of your town, while keeping in mind an overall vision that you hope to accomplish when you link that part of your town to the rest in terms of planning.
For instance, maybe you want to make a certain area a park? Maybe you want a forested area around where you've decided to put the campsite? Going back to the park idea, you might decide, hey, I'd like bushes almost "boxing in" a hammock and Zen bell for people and villagers to hang out in, and over here I would like a winding path leading out to a bench and trellis. And I'd like this park area to contrast to the marketplace-theme I'll have going over here.
I don't know. Something like that. I'm one to talk, though, since my town is a mess.
If you're doing paths, you should start at something like the train station, your house, Re-Tail, or Town Hall and begin laying down logical paths from there to all of your villagers' houses. After that is done, you can start lining the path with flowers, trees and PWPs. It really starts to come together fairly quickly for me when I do the paths first. Just don't be afraid to rip up a path if you get a better idea for how it should be routed later. I had two major paths that didn't link up for about a month, and I just had an empty swath of land that I had no idea what to do with. When I finally connected them up, the whole map came together nicely.
