So I definitely don't have all of my Dreamies, but I'd really like to do some landscaping. I'm an on-and-off player for sure, so I don't really expect myself to be able to maintain villagers for a while anyway... But back to the point, I want to organize my town a little more (flowers, trees, paths, etc...), but I've heard that it's a bad idea to do it if you don't have all of your Dreamies yet (because of moving on top of things and all that). Do any of you have any experience with things like this, and is it really that tragically devastating to have someone move into an already-landscaped town? Thanks! :-)

it kinda depends on how much you choose to do. if you have a heavily landscaped town and a villager, dreamie or not, plops down in the middle of it, it really is devastating. i personally waited until i had all my villagers before i did any landscaping and then built the paths and planted everything around the houses and buildings.

but if you play on-and-off, maybe such heavy landscaping isn't the best idea for you. if you know you won't be able to maintain your town as much as someone else, you can plan your town's design with that in mind and keep things more simple, that way if someone does move on top of your paths or hybrids, it's easy to fix or rearrange your designs. you could always keep a backup stock of hybrids/bush starts/whatever you might need just in case the worst happens.

but yes, in short, if you spend as much time as landscaping tends to take just to have it ruined, it is awful, lol.

It's frustrating to have an area perfectly landscaped, only to have an unexpected villager move in and kill your flowers, shrubs, trees and/or bamboo. If you really want to start landscaping, try working on areas where you know villagers won't move, like around pwps and villagers' houses (the ones you plan on keeping). You can also do some landscaping on the beach, where nothing will ever be destroyed by move-ins.

I've had my town for over two years and I play daily. It's pretty heavily landscaped and I have all my dreamies. If you feel like taking a look, my dream address is in my signature.

What I did, I put down all 30 PWP's in certain spots where villagers will not move into. Then I started planning around them. I laid down paths, planned what PWP's will go where, and started Landscaping. It looks like a mess but I have it to a point where my town doesn't look like a hot mess anymore. It's starting to look like a town. Right now, I'm waiting on dreamies so I can put PWP's where I actually want them to go. haha!

Good luck with your town! ^^

There's also plot resetting. I just did that today for a villager whose original plot was in the middle of my path. But now the villager is way off the path. :)

I usually plan out my paths and where big pwp's will go before moving in my dreamies.

I personally did not have all my villagers but had an idea of where I wanted them so that when I did get them I would plot reset until they were in the spot I wanted.

Build pwps along path or where you don't want them to move in.

If you want to landscape from scratch, chop down all your trees.

Lay down paths
Build PWPs
Plant trees
plant bushes
Plant bamboo
Plant flowers

There is a list of what you can do :)
