How do you make your villagers keep their original furniture? i know filling up spots in retail is one way but what about when they ask you to replace something in their house? do you just say no? and how bad will it effect youre friendship level.

You can just say no, or say yes but simply not give them anything. I suggest you also don't deliver presents from other villagers to the ones whose room you want to keep the same. I gave Penelope a gift from Grizzly and now there's an ugly green table in her otherwise bright pink room :///

it's practically impossible if you want to stay friends with some animals in your town.

Take a screenshot of their room when it's 100% original for future reference. If you want to be good friends with them, you'll have to give them furniture so their room will change for sure. Once you're done getting their photo, or they're moving soon and you want to try to make their house as original as possible, just send them back the original items they had in their room. ^^

I just say no to their requests other than fruit and other things
only in Parfait though, since i want them to keep their food theme
i dont mind in Azalea

Or i do requests for them and give them furniture from the same series :)

And i dont mind doing requests when its like put this on top of a table etc, as Tangy asked this and i just gave her a cake

I've kept pretty much all of my villagers houses the same or how I want them by sending them specific furniture, and they've almost all given me pictures. I say no to requests all the time. I actually think it's worse to say yes and then abandon the request later on.

I agree with creepysheepy that it's very hard to befriend them while keeping their rooms intact.

I just try to give furniture that looks good with what they've already got, and check their homes once in a while to make sure there aren't too many fish tanks or bug boxes. :p

I don't know, but to me, a changing home represents the things that you've done for/with that villager. I see it as a generally good thing when the homes change... but that's just me.

Keeping their homes perfect is a very difficult goal, OP, but good luck!

I keep my houses at least 80% original (minus francine whose house i gonked up bad, if anyone has a screenie of her original home I'd really love it ahaha 8'D)

I noticed villagers don't place furniture so randomly anymore; they have pre-ordained places in their homes for items of certain sizes which is a godsend. Once they hit 80% original for me, I stop giving them stuff they request for until I get it back in their homes. I buy everything they put up in Retail and wait for them to nab it again. If I'm really grossed out by something I'll try to mail it back in order but this has just a strong of a chance of screwing it back up again. I looove when they ask me to replace a specific piece in their house I don't want @_@;

I've gotten three villager pictures so far still doing all of this. Merry (who was the whole reason I came up with with this because I planned to give her away), Francine (welp), and Rodeo, whose house was 100% original until I delivered a right platform gift to him and it's horrible oh god he replaced his center couch with it why.

Might be notable I got ACNL a month ago, though I've been TTing to move out villagers pretty hard ahaha;
