I see allot of people on here have japanese 3dss, so i was wondering, do you all know how to speak japanese, or is there a setting to put it in english? ty

There is no english setting.

I just got the japanese one recently, and I do not speak japanese WELL. I am still learning hiragana and katakana, but I think the handy feature of the ACNL japanese version is that when you tap the letters, it will pronounce the sound =)

There's no way to switch the system in English, so most of the times, you'll be dealing with Japanese. I believe that there are a few games that doesn't even require some basic Japanese knowledge in order to fully enjoy them. Sadly, Animal Crossing: New Leaf isn't one of them, because there's a great amount of text. If you usually enjoy dialogs, prepare to be disappointed not being able to understand them at first. If you have a great deal of patience and willingness to learn Japanese, I'd say it can be a rewarding experience! Heck, why not throwing more Japanese games to the mix instead of just sticking to ACNL?

Don't assume that everyone who own a Japanese 3DS masters that language. When I first got my Japanese 3DS, I couldn't read them, and had to resort Google Translate (and other sources) like every minute. Today, I can actually read and type the kanas, but precisely understanding the words, the grammar and the seemingly hard kanjis stills need to practiced. Right now, I can have some "glimpse" of whatever the game is trying to say.
