I've spent more than enough money at Nook's,

It's still Nook's Cranny, and I've spent at least 50,000 bells.
I know, because I bought the Moon item, and it was 32,000 bells.

Mine should be done by later today. I have reason to believe it happened after we hit the 25,000 margin, so it may be confused because you spent it all at once. I'm confused.

My brother and I are the only ones playing on my copy, at the moment, and he payed off his debt yesterday. Lo and behold, Nook is upgrading, even though we've only bought tools and medicine.

Just a bit of data to help the figuring out how it upgrades.

Mine's upgrading tomorrow- I don't have a concrete idea what happened.

I bought stuff from him, sold stuff to him....I have around 180 points.

I'm pretty sure you have to pay off the 18,000 bell loan first. Then he'll start upgrading. Maybe even the 128,000 loan.

A whole bunch of people over at GameFAQs (including myself), are reporting that, like mine, their Nooks' is upgrading tomorrow.

So, my bet is that it's a week of playtime + spending 25,000 bells.

There's four people living in my town, each of us play daily and empty Nook's shop. We all got the first house upgrade on monday and donated daily to the town.

Now today, Nook finally decides to upgrade after paying off my second debt. But, we also didn't donate to the town yesterday either.

There's two possibilities for my Nook's upgrade:
-Not donating to the town every day after spending 25k at Nook's.
-Waiting [x] amount of days.

Don't buy anything at all from him for 2 days (but feel free to sell) then on the third day he'll tell you he's upgrading.
