It's so weird how we can now put everything in storage at once by talking to Wilbur at Harv's Island yet at home we have to do each item individually

There's so many completely inconsistent design choices like this throughout the game. It really does have a mind of it's own.

I also don't know why you can't use the shipping service when visiting friends islands. Harv could easily come and wait by the airport and it would be so handy for carrying too many things! I haven't tried it on the Nook Mystery Island's yet... is the option available?

From today he can ship all the items to your holding to your home and also buy them for Nook drop-off box prices! I'm not sure if it works on Mystery Island tours yet, but I'm really hoping it does because that would be great!

It doesn't, unfortunately. I don't really understand the point of the feature tbh. The only items we acquire at Harv's are the one item from Reese and the heart crystals... Anything you order from Cyrus gets mailed... So they added this feature because we're going to be given two items? I guess better than not having it, but why doesn't it work on mystery islands...
