So when people write on a thread, underneath their avatar sometimes it says items. And then it has a picture of something. What are items and how do you get them?

they're collectibles you can buy them with TBT bells (bells earned on the forum)

certain items are only available during events, and sometimes people sell them. Most of them are available in the shop

Yes, exactly. For example, the Easter eggs were only available during the Egg hunt, and birthstones are monthly.

Other items, like the Japanese letters, are rare.
