I remember in New Leaf we could expand every single room in the house to the size that the main room was.

But in New Horizons you can only have the rooms at a fixed size.. now granted the upstairs and the basement are alright, but the other 3 rooms I feel like are way to small and I am very limited in what I can do for furniture in those rooms

Completely agree. They're tiny. Way too small to really properly do anything with. They have to be planning on letting us expand them? I love the attic and basement though.

I have a ton of stuff in each of my side rooms and they do not feel cluttered. I like the different sizes; it feels more like a real house.

I totally agree!! Every time I go to Harv's island I'm jealous of the room sizes like... it's obviously possible to have larger rooms, so why cant we get them in our actual houses

I kind of don't like how they made the first upgrade in between expansion 1 and 2. Like what if you want the room to be small? Some people liked to keep the attic and basement the smallest addition and now they can't do that.

True I mean I myself like the idea of the rooms not being of the same size since it's realistic imo but I do hope they do add an option to expand those room as sometimes it's just too small and won't fit anything especially to people who would like for example, make massive kitchens on their house

It's really a step back from New Leaf. I want bigger rooms on the back and on the sides. They should have given us the option to change room sizes to our liking, at the very least. If you want small rooms, fine. If you want it like how it is in NL, fine. If you want everything to look like the top floor and basement? Well, it may look awkward but that"s your choice. You want a mix of both? Like I want to put a big "rectangular-shaped" garden on the left or right side.The most important thing is, we have options.

agreed 100%. i miss the 8x8 rooms - i have so many room ideas that i want to implement and while i’ll be going ahead with them, the size decrease is certainly gonna make it a bit difficult ;u;

An additional frustrating thing is that Harv's Island only has 8x8 rooms (I think), making it unsuitable for designing those smaller rooms. I need a few 8x8 rooms already for the concepts I have. x.x

I hope to see them upgradable in the future too, as well as more exterior customisation.

Agreed on all fronts in this thread - early on in the game when I was visiting Harv's Island, I thought for sure upgrades to side rooms would be available (since, you know, Harv's cabin has them ) and then I paid my final loan like.... what.... second character, second house, there I went!

I set out some lines of cardboard boxes in Harv’s rooms to limit my designs to 6x6. It was a huge pain and I hope in the future the rooms can be expanded but then I will have wasted my time lmao.

Yeah, it's ridiculous that the rooms are so small. And it's feels like such a blatant decision, too. Maybe they will have expansions in future updates, but I wish they would at least keep us in the know. The way things are now it's kind of difficult to some up with layouts and designs (not to mention we need more furniture variety).

i think it would be nice to pick & choose sizes for the rooms, like we could in hhd. our house in new leaf was huge and having all that space was nice, but i remember wishing i could revert the room sizes too.
