It wont let me open the Nookphone.

Howdy. I just got this game and I'm trying to open the nookphone. But... it wont let me. My ZL button works fine, but when I press it, it wont open the nookphone. I finished the first fishing rod and I dont know what to do to fix this... Help?!?!?

I believe Tom Nook has to either give you it or I would try progressing more.

Oh I think this thing happened to me one day

I went back to normal few minutes later but it was weird.
