Issue when trying to get DLC.

So, about two months ago (around June 22nd) I tried to connect to the internet to get the monthly DLC but it wouldn't connect. I figured it was an issue with my WiFi so I went on with my day and decided to try again at a later date. The next day I tried to do again, and the same error popped up. I now knew that it wasn't the WiFi as all my other online features were working properly. I went on Nintendo's website and they said that they were planning to do maintenance so I figured that's all it was, but after the scheduled maintenance was supposed to be done the problem still persisted,. This went on for a while until it finally connected to the internet, but then another problem came up. It suddenly said the access point I was connected to wasn't giving out any presents. I just figured maybe Nintendo was having some issues with giving out presents so I'd wait a while and try again at a later date. This has now been going on for a little over a month and I'm starting to get annoyed. Is anyone else having this issue? I've since updated the online data to no avail, and I'm really not sure what else to do. Has Nintendo maybe run out of items to give? Whenever I try to connect it says that I should update my settings, anyone know what this means?

that's weird, I downloaded the august thing on august 1st and had no problem whatsoever. I used my home wifi too, but I live in europe so idk if that would make any difference

Well I live in Canada so perhaps it's a North American issue?

To get a DLC you must be in a Nintendo Zone.. It was different for Bestbuy but was far as I know you have to go to a Nintendo zone..?

Really? I've always gotten them from the post office no problem, and there are no Nintendo zones around where I live.

There is no at home gift in the US and Canada. The zodiac items were the last items.
I live in Canada and use McDonalds. You have to add them as one of your connections. Than go to the internet and McDonalds should pop up. It will give you a terms of agreement which you have to do every time. Click yes and you should be sent to the McDonald site. Than go to the post office and get your gift.

I did have problems when I visiting another McDonalds. So I removed the other McDonalds connection and than added the one that I was at. It worked right away. Sometime the connection is just horrible. I avoid the ones that are inside a Walmart.

Ohhh, okay. What items have been given out? I don't really have any way of getting to a McDonalds so that's quite troublesome.

The eggplant cow just started on Sunday.
In January they started giving out Japanese items. If you try the trading boards someone should be able to help you.
A lot of players have extra copies and got extra items. Some of the items that were given out are re orderable and others are not.
I gave away all the ogre masks to online friends.

Ah, thank you for helping me ^-^ I do wish Nintendo didn't do things like this; it really excludes players who have no way of going to any places like this, but I suppose there's no sense complaining as it will do no good.

Yeah, i don't even go to best buy or mcdonalds, and where ever Nintendo zones are located.

Tthe closest BB is an hour away and even though Mcdonalds is closer, i just don't eat there that much

Hmm...I'm not even sure if my town has anywhere for me to get things like this. I've googled for Nintendo zones close to me and I believe the closest one is in Vancouver :/
