Island of Takoyaki

Today was another lovely day in Takoyaki! Roswell had me and Wendy over at his place! His place is very cool (there's even a pool table an everything!). He made us some (soft) drinks for Wendy and me and we had a lovely chat. Turns out Roswell is a big music fan. He's really into K.K. Slider's Jazz album and he wants us all to go watch him perform soon. Apparently, he'll be here Saturday, but it seems he also performs as a D.J. on another island not far from here. Wendy's kinda hesitant (not her vibe), but I'm willing to try it out! ​

I then decided to take the train today and have dinner at this restaurant called "Kintaro", instead of eating leftovers. It's great! They have some amazing noodles and sushi. I had some lovely ramen with some pork cutlets, some egg and mushrooms (and it was pretty spicy! ). I had never been here before, but Wart Jr. insisted I should come (apparently, him and Billy come here often. Even after dark! Seems like the restaurant is seemingly a bar after hours, too).

On my way home I ran into Kiki! Or rather, I scared the bejeezus out of her! Poor thing, I didn't mean to scare her! I told her it's a bad idea to stay up late watching scary movies (the one time we did that movie marathon at my place, at least we had a slumber party!). It doesn't help that we keep hearing more noises coming from the abandoned tent near the forest. Isabelle and Mr.Nook have announced they will be closing the entrances because it's not safe... Seemingly, two cops (Cooper and Booker, I think?) will be coming over to investigate. Last year, a couple of people went missing! I know I shouldn't, but I may take a peek soon... ​

It's late and it's time to go to bed (I know my room is a mess, please don't judge me! ). I should've listened to my own advice and not stay up late reading scary manga... . I wonder what exciting things will happen tomorrow in Takoyaki! ​

Today was a surprisingly hot day, so I decided to dress appropriately . You can tell that spring is making its way in full force! I decided to walk around the rice paddy fields! Usually, you'll find Joan and her grand daughter wondering around the fields, too. They bring Turnips from back home but they will also work the fields in Takoyaki.

I bumped into Renée near the convini store. Seriously, I can't imagine someone hoarding up 40 fish in an aquarium! (Unless they were really baby fish ).

​

This conversation with Renée made me wanna do a little fishin' around. So I grabbed my cane and decided to head near the shore.

​

The wonders a cold can of apple juice can do at the end of a long day... ​

It's another lovely day in Takoyaki! And guess what...it's cherry blossom season! I just love seeing how beautiful the trees across the island look. I simply love sitting around the park, watching cherry blossom petals fly around . I'll admit, it's very relaxing!
​

And look who it is! The renewed artist, K.K. Slider, came here to visit Takoyaki. Billy and Renée are here since early in the morning to listen to him play some tunes. By 6pm, he'll be throwing a concert and I assume plenty of people (including Roswell, one of his biggest fans) will be there.
​

​

I bumped into Wart Jr. and Kiki as well! Wart Jr. was telling me all about the new electric work he's been doing at his place (I've insisted that he call an expert, but he just won't listen).
​

It's lovely to see that Renée and Kiki are getting closer as friends! Ever since Bunnie moved away, Renée has been feeling a little bummed out. They used to just do everything together! I was actually worried Renée would've packed her bags and leave, too! Luckily, Kiki and her have become a lot closer. They're not exactly alike, though. Kiki loves spending time at the Museum and the local library, whereas Renée... she really like watching shows, going out for a nice meal and just chilling. We'll see where this friendship will go!

The day was so lovely today with the cherry blossoms, I decided to have a little picnic of my own. I went a bit overboard, but I had Renée and Kiki join me as well! We talked about what Kiki might be planning on doing for her bday, which is coming up She said she'll probably do a small party at her place. Which reminds me... I need to find her something soon!
​

On my way to the convini, I realized that Timmy and Tommy had put up the Halloween decorations! I completely forgot it's October and Halloween is coming up. Everyone in Takoyaki takes Halloween extremely seriously! Graham always hosts a Halloween costume party (which I love) and he always gets first place!​

​

I decided to then go home and try out some of my potential costumes for Halloween. So for this year I was either thinking of going as Sophie from Howl's Moving Castle or as Alice from Alice in Wonderland. I know, neither one of these is truly scary but it's all I have for now...​

Another day, another update on Takoyaki! I started my morning early today to workout with Roswell and Greta! It felt great to start the day like this (even if it was very early...).​

​

On my way to Kiki's (since it was her birthday!), I bumped into Whitney looking absolutely radiant! I just needed to snap this moment to show you all! She was just on her way home from getting Kiki's gift (a little bit last minute, I see...). She told me she was headed to Town Hall for some paper work she needed for her backyard and then she'd be on her way to Kiki's.

​

At Kiki's place the party had already started! It was lovely seeing Wendy there already (and I know Renée and Whitney were on their way, too!). There was soo much food! Kiki is a great host (as always), and had all sorts of beverages and snacks to eat (my favorite were the jam filled cup cakes she made!) .

​

Of course, I didn't show up empty handed! I also stayed up late last night baking her a lovely cake for her! I'm so glad she liked it, too! Knowing Kiki, I was sure she'd be into baked goods

Yesterday was the last day to see the cherry blossoms... blossoming . I'm definitely going to miss seing the town looking this pretty! But this means we're only a few weeks away from summer and that makes me even more excited! To think about all the amazing things that we'll get to do... the food, bathing in the ocean, the summer festivals of Takoyaki and more! Oh, I also wanted to snap a little pic. I guess it's true what they say about the golden hour, huh?

It's raining cats and dogs today in Takoyaki! I just love seeing the snails popping out and enjoying the weather! I'm sure Wart Jr. is feeling the same, strolling around without a single umbrella or poncho to cover up.

​

Wow, it really is pouring down! Look at this puddle near the museum! I'm really tempted to jump in (now that I'm wearing my rain boots, as well!) . I'm definitely in the mood for some hot chocolate to start the day -- I'll head to The Roost. Plus, it's very warm and cozy in there, too!

​

I had to pull out my coat and boots, they were soaking wet! The hot chocolate was lovely (and Brewster added a complementary biscuit, yum!). While I was there, Isabelle came in for her Roost 2 Go coffee! She works so hard at the Town Hall -- I hope she's taking many more breaks than just this one!

As Takoyaki continues to develop, new challenges emerge! Unfortunately, we've been facing recent situations of homelessness (which is unsurprising, given the hefty price of those Nook homes!). I do hope that Isabelle can look into this, so we can start building some social housing for all residents of the island .
​

​

Even strolling around the forest, I've noticed tents set up by unhoused residents! This is truly unfortunate. They don't deserve to live in these conditions. Also, this brings other problems to the island -- including waste left around places that should be bette preserved. I'll make sure to bring this up to Isabelle the next time I'm near Town Hall!

Spring rains never seem to end in Takoyaki! It's cloudy and a bit cold, but that didn't stop me from going to the island's temple, today! It's always important to pay your respects to Takoyaki's ancesters... even if it's a little creepy at times.

​

Just below the temple you'll spot what was supposed to be the island's recycling bin spot. However, it's slowly turned into the island's to-go dump (I've seen you throw away your trash here, Greta!). I hope Isabelle has a plan to turn this place around.

​

I'm happy to see that the fishermen are doing quite well this season! I love dropping by the fish market to get a sample of what they've caught that day. Everything is fresh (and delicious). I hear they sell their fish to one of the local restaurants, too!

​

You can even see most of their boats stationed on the beach here!

​

With this weather, I figured the perfect way to pass time is to head to the Takoyaki's onsen and enjoy the hot springs!

​

I can't even begin to describe how nice it is here! I'm super proud of this decision, haha! I think there's nothing nicer than a good, warm bath in the evening. I'll make sure to bring Kiki the next time I'm here. It was surprisingly quiet today -- I guess no one wanted to come out with the rain and all.

I decided to join the scout's after-school program and I had my first day during the week-end! It was really exciting. We went into the forest to learn all about bugs and the flora. We were lucky to have Nat, a bug expert and aficionado, talk to us about the different critters that roam around in spring! He told us to be careful about the tarantulas at night, though! . We will have a session next week at Takoyaki's museum and Blathers himself will be giving us a lecture on insects!

Part of our responsibilities as scouts, is thinking of ways to contribute to the community of Takoyaki! I thought it would be a great idea to clear out the island's recycling bin! This'll take a while, I think -- I'm gonna have to pull out some weeds, move around some boxes, and take out the trash... hmm.

​

I had been so busy with the scout's program, that it took me a while to realize that Graham had seemingly left the island (and the property was already sold!).

​

What's even more worrying, is that Graham has seemingly disappeared. That's why they sold his property to someone else -- no one has heard from him in a while. Come to think of it, neither have I. Someone set up this sign near the Antenna (it may have been Roswell, I know the two of them were close). I think this must have been the last place people saw him wandering around?

There's nothing better than to end the day with your best pals... just taking in the last rays of sun on the beach (garbage and all). Thanks, Renée. You're a true one!

Before heading to class, I make sure to leave my bike at the bike station (it can be found near the Able's Sisters store and Greta's place!). I would normally leave it by school, but there's almost never place now! Seems like everyone is riding their bike to school now a days .

Today I was asked by my homeroom teacher to help her deliver some documents to the teacher's lounge (I think it must be our exams that she must've graded!). Everyone is super busy trying to wrap up the semester before the summer holidays. I overheard one of the teachers talk about a new student -- who happens to be the newest villager of Takoyaki! I think they said his name was Derwin or something? Anyway, can't wait to meet him!

After school was over, Renée invited Wendy and me to her place to hang out! She cooked us a really nice (but super spicy!) chili! It was sooo good! Wendy kept babbling on about this new show she's been watching and I brought my Switch Lite to show them the new games I have been playing.

Of course, it wouldn't be a late night at Renée's place without setting up her amazing Karaoke machine! We stayed up late singing some of K.K.'s songs (Wendy is a big fan, too!) and had a lovely time.​

I visited our newest member of the island of Takoyaki! Derwin goes to school here on the island, as well. He's super sweet and has an insane collection of fossils, rocks, insects and more! He loves learning about different things -- and spends a big amount of time at the museum!

He's told me all about the discussions he's had with Blathers and he really wants to meet his sister, Celeste! He's all about comets and planets, and all. I wish we had a sort of planetarium here at the island.

On my way home, I crossed the school grounds. It really feels different to be around school on a Saturday! Anyway, I can almost taste the summer vacations! I can't wait.

I wasn't expecting Whitney to show up at home (and while I was doing my exercises, no less!), but I love to see her and have her here! ​

Talking about shooting stars, wouldn't you know it! It happened that very same night, as I was just doing a (perfectly innocent, not going near the antenna) night stroll!

Going to school early in the morning, you see some familiar faces! Everyone seems super excited for class (while I'm just fighting to stay awake, hah). Derwin should be around here, somewhere. I think we have art class together, too!

Today we are meant to meet with our homeroom teacher to discuss career plans! A couple of us headed to the teacher's lounge. You could see our teacher already working hard on her computer .

Gym class is always fun! I had to do some stretches before joining my classmates doing a run!

Oh, man, I think I'm going to fall asleep here! I really like literature class, but I can't help but drift off. The teacher was doing a class on horror literature (since we're not far from Halloween!). Dracula, Frankenstein, those seem fun! ​

Roswell’s moving out . I went by his place before school and it seems that Graham’s disappearance really got to him. He says he wants to find out what really happened to him. I’m bummed but I totally understand! Good travels, Roswell! And I hope you find Graham!

After classes were over, I spent some time with some friends over at the music class (since it was our turn to clean up!). I’m not great with the mop, hah, but at least the room isn’t too big! Plus, I love playing with the instruments when I get the chance.

I invited Renée over as well! It was lovely we watched some of our favorite show and I had a few snacks prepared as well! We spoke a lot about Roswell leaving and it brought back a few memories about Bunnie. She and Renée are still in touch! They send each other letters all the time. She’s doing quite well, it seems ​
