... does anyone else do it? I'm currently on the hunt for the bottled ship and the sea globe. I drop into an island, check what's on sale and then leave.

But 99% of the time there's other people on the island. I feel rude just dropping in and leaving 20 seconds later but I don't want to keep saying "shopping, bye" every time.

Is that just me?

I did it quite a bit when I was looking for certain wet suits. I don't feel rude popping in and out, though. Most of the people there would probably harass me for Bells, anyway.

I try to get in and out as quickly as possible. If I want to play games or catch fish/bugs, I always go to my own island. If I go to CT and stick around, it gives people time to look at my TPC info. They see I have a gold badge for saving "one billion Bells" (which in Animal Crossing means 100K) and they start to beg immediately. It took me a long time to earn my Bells and I'm not going to give them away to a bunch of rude beggars.

I did it for a while, and felt rude, too. What worked for me was setting my TPC phrase to "just island hopping, sorry!" or something like that. People actually did read it, and I had a few laugh and/or smile about it. It was much easier than having to type it out every time.

Yep, I island hop! I do feel bad sometimes about dashing in and out. However, I have no time for people bullying, taking advantage off, etc...of others.

It does feel rude to make them sit through load screens, but I have seen too many annoying people on club Tortimer to even want to stay longer.

That's exactly it. Someone asked me for money whilst wearing a full Gracie outfit. If you have enough Bells for Gracie then you know how to earn it yourself.

Ooh that's a good idea! Thanks

So glad I'm not alone! I have to admit, in my short time of island hopping I've only been trolled twice. I figure that's pretty good.

That's exactly it. It's the loading screens that I feel bad about.

I also definitely just visited the same island twice in a row. I thought the chances of that were so slim. I felt super bad for that person because they saw me enter and leave twice in the space of about 5 minutes.

You're not the only one who feels that way! Of course, I've had to deal with a few rude people, so it makes up for itself in the end. Like one time, I was island hopping for hibiscus starts, and when I found them, I ignored the person talking and I just kept buying them. They apparently got mad (?) and flicked the switch because I was ignoring them. Not to mention I've had people beg for my friend code and Bells as soon as I arrive; altogether I don't really feel bad anymore knowing 99% of the people on CT are rude or beggars.

I did it quite a bit because I wanted all the island items, I usually just said hi and bye. I don't think it's rude to do it, most people just said hi or ignored me or were doing the same thing anyway.

yep, someone just came to the island i was at with her tpc comment as "Island hopping -- sorry!" so i could realize why she came and left so quick. it's pretty convenient!!

That might have been me! I'm island hopping now and have changed my TPC comment over after the suggestion earlier in the thread. :)

I try to say hi if they say hi to me first. I also comment if I really like the outfit they're wearing cause I just think that's polite. :)

I used to island hop when i was hunting for the Club Tortimer exclusives. If people said Hi, then I would say Hi, sorry gtg, bye. Usually they would laugh or say bye. I wouldnt worry too much about it. If people want to fish/bug hunt without interruption then TC aint the place to do it anyhow. And if theyre looking for tours, then theyre going to interrupt somebody else when they depart/return anyhow, so they cant exactly complain about youre coming and going.

Very true. I feel bad until they start pestering me for my FC and not allowing me to leave.

When I island hop I wear a hybrid or two and leave them right outside to be nice. I figure dramatically leaving a rose and leaving without a word seems like a cool way to be antisocial.

I did once before, when I decided to spend my medals on stuff to give away before I reset.
I was bothered for money once in the whole time I did it, and I actually just flipped the switch, because they may have not let me leave anyway.
