I was down to a few (about 3-4) tickets left and found Diana on an NMT island. I pondered taking her because she was cute and I could give her to somebody who wanted her. I passed on her and found one of my dreamies on the next island.
Honestly I dont pass on villagers that I want, I'm a very in-the-moment kind of person which is not always beneficial, but I go with gut feelings. Like last night I went on a island hopping spree searching for Baabara, but on my 11th island I found Reneigh, she's one of my most wanted villagers, so I grabbed her right away. I can go for Baabara later, or maybe just buy her amiibo, she is an obscure villager so her card is probably super cheap lol
When I was on the quest to find Judy, I met Melba. I thought about taking her instead of moving on to the next island for like 15 min... I ultimately decided to give up and move on.
Cyd and Spike. Murphy has been my cranky buddy since New Leaf so I won’t replace him, but those two have a weird appeal to me that made me stop and think a few times.
Also I have passed Ribbot both times now. I always think I want him and then when I find him he doesn’t appeal to me as much. So I sit and think and pass eventually.
Boris. I really wanted a Snooty but I ended up not finding one anyway. I love boars in real life and I don’t have his amiibo card so I’m still kind of bummed that I didn’t just invite him on a whim.
Ankha, Marina, and Melba. Was looking for the smugs I wanted and came across these gals. (Came across Marina twice. I was thinking of taking them in and then give them away for free to ppl who really wanted them but was like "naaaah" and then to another island.
Audie. I was on a quest for Raymond, but I found her after I spent ~20 tickets. She's not a dreamie, but it was so tempting to invite her and I contemplated trading her for Raymond later. Awhile ago I invited Sherb (not a dreamie at the time) on a quest for Raymond too. I thought I'll let him move later on, but I ended up adoring him. Now I have two lazy villagers. Ultimately decided to pass over Audie because I already had so many ideas for who my peppy dreamie to be. Also I didn't want to get attached to each villager whom I invite lol. I don't regret it because I found Raymond a little after.
Amelia and Sly are two villagers who I passed up but eventually ended up on my (substantial) dreamies list. Amelia in particular at the moment as my island is missing an eagle which is a must have for me
I ran into Beau and Erik yesterday.
I already have 3 deer and as much as I love them, I don't want an island full of deer.
It was really hard to pass on them but I don't regret that decision (yet).
apollo for me...ran into him twice during an agonizing hunt for y'know who.
my method was dip from the mystery island if it wasn't the one bc i was tight on time but each time i saw apollo, i really wanted to take him in. had to fight my own self and moved on though.
The two I contemplated for a long time and ultimately passed were Olaf and Miranda.
I very much regretted passing Olaf, but I had been new to the game and didn't realize right away that I actually really wanted him. Staring at him for literal minutes should have been a dead giveaway, but no. Luckily I had the chance to adopt him later.
I regretted Miranda for a little bit, especially after finding out that we share a birthday. However, I got over it and decided that Gloria (same species, same personality, different color) would be a better fit.
Probably Beau, but I already had Lucky and Sherb and I love them both, so I didn't regret leaving Beau behind.
Now I regret a little leaving Judy behind just because how many money I could have made if I resold her lol. I don't really care for Judy herself though.
Oh God, even just thinking about it makes me feel regret! But it was Merengue. And I passed a lot of awesome villagers. I was looking for Drago because I needed a lazy villager. I was thiiiiis close to taking Merengue, hopefully I'll get the chance to get her again, I've been racking up NM for that chance lol!
Mine is nothing but regret when picking up Marshal from the campsite. (It's more of like not passing.) If my friend didn't want him, I would skip him for another villager. (It's been nearly a month. When will he ask me to move?)
I also somewhat regretted picking up Audie from my random mystery island tour. If I knew she's a jock, I won't pick her up.
I bought 50 NMT and wasted them alongside 10 NMT I could buy myself. Fuchsia probably showed 5 times and I really thought about taking her. I also got Octavian 3 times, but he's literally the one octopus that I don't want. I also saw Merengue 5 times, but I just don't like her species at all.
Do I regret it? No, because I bought another 50 NMT later that evening and found my dreamie Apollo on my second or third island. I might have regretted it if I didn't find a dreamie, but I could have just gambled for a random move in and then kick them out with one of my 3 amiibos.
