Island design

How do you all come up with your island designs? I just reset my island and i like the space i have now, and wanted to get some ideas in my head before i actually unlock terraforming again. Any good tips?
I don't want to do what i did with my last island and just place things but I'm on day 2 of my island now and am obviously still unlocking stuff. Lol
I have zero creativity for this stuff, but i want my island to look nice, ya know?

You could always look at screenshots, watch videos, or visit dreams to get ideas. There's some things I've come up with on my own, but there's other things that I got inspiration from others.

Is there an overall theme you're going for? You could go on YouTube and search "animal crossing theme tour", just replacing the word theme with whatever theme you're interested in and you'll get videos for it.

i kinda just let mine evolve naturally. there are certain areas i liked more on my original map and i focused on those. in my case it was a large hill to the north of my island which is where i clustered all my villager homes on.

other than that i just watched some videos, looked at some screenshots and got bits and pieces of inspo from them. i don't really seek inspiration out i just let my island develop more naturally.

I have zero theme ideas. Lol i just know i want a simple shopping area around RS, with the museum close to that (maybe on a cliff area?) And a nice residential area for all the homes. I was thinking of sectioning a little orchard type space for all the fruit trees as well but I'm not sure about that yet. This is basically my map, only difference is the dock and plateau placement are reversed. But RS and airport are in the exact locations. I think instead of some extravagant entrance I'll just have a simple fenced in path to RS from the airport, but again undecided. Lol
