Is your school closed today?

I know that not everyone lives in the US, but with the winter storm currently hitting the east coast, and the huge arctic winds hitting the northern states, I was wondering if anyone else got there school cancelled. I also want to know how some people are being affected by this huge cold front that has been hitting us.

I live in Minnesota, and the governor announced on Friday that school all over the state is closed for today. Right now in Minnesota it's -17F/-27C and it feels like -42F/-41C. It's so cold, we threw a cup of water outside and it started evaporating before it hit the ground.

We're used to the cold temps in Minnesota, so this has been a little surprising since we never get school closed when it gets cold outside. A few schools here are closing tomorrow, as well...but it's supposed to be pretty bad tomorrow, too. Luckily it's going to get up to the 20s when this is all over. That's like T-shirts for us since it's been in the negatives for the past few weeks.

So how has everyone else been affected by this?

I'm homeschooled, but I seen on the news that most Indiana schools were being cancelled for 2-3 days. These temps are crazy... I'm not used to this. x-x

I had to shovel a path for my dog to do his business, and my hands started to go numb when I had 2 layers of gloves on.

I live in Ohio and my school was closed today and is closed tomorrow.

My college is closed, and most likely will be tomorrow from what they've told us. Bring on the snow!

Mine is closed today and tomorrow. It stopped snowing, but the temp. is dropping steadily.

Indiana had many schools cancelled ^_^ I work at a nursing home and almost got stranded there over night! It was ridiculous

We go back tomorrow. Today was for "teacher training".
Last time there was teacher training, several of the staff actually told us that they didn't even have to come in, it was basically just a day off for them to do christmas shopping...

Yes, some people will be wimps because they're not used to this much snow and this cold of temperatures. It's unnatural to them.

My school is closed today, and tomorrow, living in Michigan...

If you lived all of your life in America, then your school would have been cancelled, too.
If we had all lived our lives in Canada, then maybe, just maybe, we would call others pansies. I, for one, wouldn't.
8 feet of snow here would be extremely unclimactical (I think I made up a word there!), and we would probably feel great up there, had we lived all of our lives in Canada.
Sorry if you weren't meaning offense. I just took tremendous offense from that, because I can't control where I live, due to my parents, and it seems as if you aren't very mobile either.

All the major school districts in Minnesota are closing tomorrow, as well since it's going to be -20 again. The school district I live in is SUPER small, and they just decided, "Oh we'll just start 2 hours later~"
