Is this a sign I've been holding my dreamies too long?

I started my game to find out Phoebe was in boxes. Instead of writing a thread moaning about this, facedesking repeatedly, screaming about the 16 cycle and whatnot, I just felt a desire to get a better villager. I went on VTP, bought a villager, and set up an auction for this villager. All this time I'm feeling like it's just any old day on TBT.

Does this mean I've been holding onto my dreamies too long? She's been here since December.

It's up to you. I don't think it means anything really, except that the game is running as it was programmed to. If you want to drop your dreamies (or just some of them) and replace them with new ones, then maybe that's a good idea. You can experience new personalities and have a change. :)

You realise "dreamies" are just an idealised and abstract concept arisen through online communities like these (not a bad thing) and there isn't any 'rule' or 'definition' of what they are or how long you can/should keep them aside from that they are villagers you meet or find out about that you just really love and would like to keep and cherish until you don't anymore... Just like your favourite childhood stuffed teddybear that you took with you everywhere and hugged to sleep every night that you're selling today at a yard sale. If you feel fine with letting Phoebe go, it means it's the perfect time to let her go even if you've only had her since December and, just like you said, find a villager you like even more.

Umm no it just means you're a normal person who doesn't get too over-emotional about video game characters

I don't think it means anything bad. You're just playing the game in accordance with the mechanics. The idea of "dreamies," if you define them as villagers who will never, ever leave your town, is counter to how the game was designed. Yes, there are mechanisms in place that allow you to retain villagers even after they've expressed interest in leaving, but they'll never stop asking to leave.

I let Lucky go recently, and he was one of my original five. It was bittersweet, in that way that only AC can be. But after he left, I felt good, because he'd asked before and I had said no, but now he was off to another village, doing what he wanted to do (and yes, I am aware that they are "only" pixels, but they are pixels that you are meant to have a relationship with, which is why many of us do become attached to them.) And I had room for a new villager to fall in virtual love with. I like that cycle.

Its good to interact with new villagers.
And for me i don't Google to find out the villager character type.
I rather slowly get to know them every day, like a real person. This to me ,makes the game more interesting.
And alot of time ( before i know and pink and blue name in dialogue means) , i mix up there gender. >.<

Is it a "sign"? Why do you need a sign? Maybe you realized something through it. Don't you know what you think without a sign? Do you know what to think now that you got a sign? What will your lunch be tomorrow? But shouldn't you know yourself what it means? What is the meaning of life? We can't know what you think or how you feel, or should feel in the stead of you.

Nope all it means is that you missed the 5 day cycle. Also it's best to start the day by not talking to any of your villager till one pings on you.(make sure you have just tolls and no money) The first ping should be your mover if the game set one that day. The game set a mover when you load your pre exsiting characters. Once set you have for days to stop them before they end up in boxes. The 5th day they will be in boxes. If you don't want to play for a while as soon as you stop a mover save and quit. The game will not set a mover even if you haven't played for a year. Once you load again though most likely if it's been a month or more the game will set a mover on your first load.
