So I researched this a bit, and I finally made the decision to download the game to 2 SD cards to have 2 towns. (I have the digital version).
I wanted the second town for a cycling town, but when I tried to load my main town from my cycling town, I have the error, "Cannot use save data because it was not the last data saved. Delete data?"
I obviously don't want to do this because I have almost all of my dreamies on there.
Any way around this? :c

This happened to someone before. Downloading the game on 2 SD cards will definitely cause this to happen. I'm afraid your main town is gone.

Wait, you had 2 SD cards. The one that you downloaded to is...wait...hm...

I pre-ordered the bundle, that came with an SD card.
I put a new one in, installed New Leaf on that, and started playing that.
I switched back to my main town SD card and got the error.

If you actually bought the game twice, then I feel sorry for you.

The SD Card saves to the 3DS itself--so it recognizes the copy. Unless you have 2 copies of the game, that'll mess it up. 2 SD Cards won't change that

This happened to someone else, unfortunately. I've learned by now to never even consider trying that. I'm really sorry, but your town's gone :c.

If want to 2 towns you either have to have 2 hard copies of the game or one hard copy and one download(or the preinstalled on the ac special edition 3ds). If you want to use the second game to get things for your first town(like tt to all the special events) you have to have 2 seperate ds systems and 2 copies of the game.
A few months back I had the idea to start another town(with the intention of tt to get stuff for my 1st town). I have the special edition ac 3ds xl and I wasn't sure how it would work with a preinstalled game so I asked on her first. Best ac decision I ever made. I'm so sorry you lost your town.
