is there any reason for this sapling to disappear?

it is one space away from everything, and it would disappear (not wilt) even when I didn't add the mushrooms or log bench... I assumed it was far away enough from the cafe, and even if it wasn't, why isn't simply wilting instead of disappearing? ):

If I save and quit and come back on the same day, it is still there (unlike snowman when they disappear for being too close to something), only when I go to the next day.

no, that's not it, I have fully grown cedars in a southern area from the caf?, and even then, they usually wilt, yes ):

I think it's too close to the cafe; the cafe is oddly shaped which can make it confusing. It takes up a 4x5 space, so even though you can dig a hole/put items/lay patterns in that spot next to the little gyroid plant, it still counts as part of the cafe, as far as buffer zones are concerned. So technically your cedar is touching the cafe diagonally. I'm not sure why it's disappearing instead of just wilting, but I've also never tried planting a tree directly next to a building, so maybe they disappear when you do that?

they usually wilt, i'm not sure. oh well, still, thank you for explaining! I'll see if putting one space more to the left will not make it the area too clutered/busy (　?_ﾉ` )

Ok, I just tested this -- I planted a sapling next to my house first and it wilted, but then I planted one in that same spot in relation to my cafe and it disappeared too... so I guess it's just something weird about that spot? It should be fine one space over though!
