I'm just wondering if there's a website where I can draw my map (like choose from the different sections of river the game has) - I'd like to do my map and then plan different areas, that's why I'm asking

I haven't heard of one, though I know people use different methods to plan things. You can try to find a map template and print it out or take a picture of yours. I've also seen people use photoshop or paper to draw their map and calculate the space they have.

Well, I doubt there is a specific one program for that. But what I've seen people do is take a picture of their town.
Do this via miiverse and access it through your computer, or go to Isabelle, tell her you wanna demolish a pwp and take a picture of your town map that way. Then remove your sd card, put it into the computer via sd card reader or sd slot in your laptop and tada you should have a picture of the town map.
You can use photoshop if you have it, or a cheaper method, use Microsoft paint, and start planning and drawing out paths, places to put pwp etc.
If you don't wanna do that either, then just take a picture with a camera or your phone, put that on the computer and edit, or print it on paper and draw whatever you like.

I use a free online thing that has paint called Pixlr.
You could graph it out. Someone on tumblr (aforestlife) made a grid that fits the town's dimensions, and you can plan everything down to the last pixel.

It's pretty detailed. Might take a while. The precision is really useful though, even if it takes a lot of work to plan it all out.
