Is there a way to get villagers to interact with things more often?

I built a cafe area I put a lot of time and effort in with tables, chairs, couches, etc. I placed it nearby the plaza in hopes that I'd sometimes see villagers walk into it and hang out from time to time. I noticed a lot of my villagers spend time smelling the flowers so I placed a good amount of them in front of the cafe hoping they'd stop by. It's been about a month and i've only seen 1 villager sit on the couch pretty much ever. Are there certain items/colors villagers are more drawn to, or is my cafe going to be deserted forever? Any and all tips/advice is appreciated. Thank you!

I feel the same. My villagers are like my IRL cat, ignores all the toys I buy for him but instead rolls around with random plastic bags on the floor.

This could not be more accurate haha spent a good 5 days on this cafe and I see lucky just slapping the matryoshka in a random corner of the island for 10 minutes straight

Well, maybe I'm a bad person but my go-to thought was to trap them.

I would you assume want it natural but.. why not? No one will know when you show off the amazing pictures.

Thats fair lol I'm not really super into taking photos (as gorgeous as this game is), Its more i'd like to be just walking around my island taking in the scenery and see one of villagers hanging out in the cafe area I built without having to force them in.

is it close to your resident services/housing area? I’ve had better luck with my decorated areas near buildings rather than the middle of nowhere.

really, interesting. It's to the right of resident services bordering the river and a small lake. Maybe I have to re-do the whole thing. But I also have an outdoor pool area near 2 villager houses that also never gets used. Idk...

hm... it sounds like you have a scattering of houses on your island rather than a big residential sector like I do. I hardly see villagers interact with my rattan seating in front of my museum. they just sit on one stool. maybe just wait awhile, and if doesn’t make you happy that they aren’t interacting, re-do it.

Yeah my island is definitely way more scattered than i'd like it. I'm planning on trying to move all my neighbors together in a more residential sector but haven't gotten around to it yet. I think thats my best bet tbh. I'll test it by moving maybe 2 or 3 houses a little closer to the cafe and see if that makes a difference with villagers interacting with it. Thanks for the advice!
