I just read that the “bamboo doll” toy is a reference to the folk legend “The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter”, or the story of Princess Kaguya...
I was wondering if the baby in the peach had any significance...
Is there any other baby items I'm missing?

The peach surprise box is about Momotaro, a famous Japanese hero folk tale. The story was about a giant peach floating down a river and got picked up by a childless woman when she was washing her clothes and Momotaro was born from the peach. After he grew up he fought against monsters to keep the village safe.

There's also a tulip surprise box, not sure what the story is behind that.
