I'm missing a jock so I have a feeling I must have missed out on a lot since he moved out quite early on. Wanted one so bad but I wasn't able to come across anything suitable during my Island hunting... i really want to have all the personalities on my Island.
Is there a guide outlining what personalities give your certain reactions.

Is there any significance to the special reactions regarding friendship? On my companion app all the special ones say you have to be best friends with a villager before they’ll give it to you. Does anyone know how true this is? Tank taught me flourish but still hasn’t given me his photo
I also don’t have a complete set of villager types, so I’m going to be stuck at some point as well.
Is there any way to get additional reactions from other towns, or by other means? This game doesn’t seem to expect you to move villagers in and out quite as much as older games did, and I have a couple of duplicate personality type villagers that I really like.
No unfortunately you can only get emotions from your island villagers. Also, I have the same problem as you do: 3 normals and 2 lazies. Couldn't bring myself to kick out any villagers, but one. However even that one is getting replaced by the same personality. Hopefully an update will like I said allow us to have more villagers.
I think it may be tied to friendship levels. My jock gave me his photo a couple weeks before he taught me flourish.

For the record, the only photo I have is Billy's (jock), but I also have the special reaction Confident from Ursala. So you def don't need the pic beforehand. I think at this point the only reactions I'm missing are Showmanship (smug) and Love (snooty), so I must've unlocked the special reactions from a lot of my other villagers and I don't have their pics.
