So idk why but now every time I gift a piece of furniture to a villager, they never display it in their house. Is that a glitch or does each villager only like a certain kind of furniture?
Is there a glitch with gifting furniture to villagers?

There's lots of rules, like certain furniture that will never be displayed (that's most likely what's going on here), there's some furniture that can only be placed on surfaces and not the floor, etc.

Oh wow thank you! Yeah I tried to give a wardrobe to one of my villagers and they haven’t put it out yet I gave them a moss ball and they displayed it. Is it the same mechanic if I mail it to them?

Like, are the rules the same with mailed gifts, you mean? If so, then yeah, it appears so. Looks like the only difference mailing has is that they can received unlimited furniture per day through mail (so you can kind of spam gifts, especially if you're trying to replace a bunch of different furniture), and it takes them 2 days to set out mailed gifts instead of putting it out the next day.
