A friend is buying animal crossing and he wonders of getting a JP copy since that is easier for him or to get a US copy since that's the one I have, would there be a issue if he got a JP copy or will everything be okay and we are able to visit each other and so on?

Is there a difference between a JP copy and a US copy?

No differences. The Switch is region free and you can select your language in the game. You can visit each other and play together just fine.
