Is the Green New Year Hat rare?

Every single person that I have visited today seems to need my Green New Years Hat.

Is it rare, or am I just lucky that we have a different set of hats? The Animal Crossing wiki seems to imply that it is rarer than the other three, but I don't know...

Redd, who is by the Town Tree, will give the player a New Year's top hat, or a New Year's party hat. They come in assorted colors, usually from Yellow, Red and Blue.

I think it is. Almost everyone looking for a hat seems to be looking for the green one, plus in the multiple times I've done New Year's Eve in my TTing escapades I've never had the green one.

No. I had red and yellow in one town and green and red in the other town.
The only one I'm missing is blue. y.y

I don't believe there is a difference in rarity for those hats. It's probably popular because it's looks very nice. It's odd how the top hats look nicer than the cone ones...

I only got two hats : one yellow cone hat and one blue cone hat.

It's probably just by chance that a lot of people here seem to just have red, blue or yellow. I'm not on new years yet (October!), so I hope I get red and green as mine, as I got blue and yellow from someone else's town.

I had Yellow and Green hats. I wanted the green one for my secondary character so that worked out great, but I wanted the blue one for my mayor! I had to make the yellow one work for her though...
