Is my turnip ready?

I bought a red turnip and don't know how to tell if it's ready to take to Nook's. How will I know it's ready and do I pull it up or dig it up? Thanks in advance for the help.

If you dig it up and take it to Nook to see how much you can get, you can always plant it again. I didn't think you could, but I just did it on accident twice this week. I had one wilting last week and watered it in the middle of the week, so this week I had 2 growing. I dug up the wrong one in the middle of the week and had to replant it, it's been fine since then. Then I dug up the right one and found out I was a day early, it was only 8000 bells. So I replanted it and dug it up the next day, 16000 bells.
