Is it weird that I kinda don't wanna terraform my island a lot?

Nope, not weird at all. Personally, I find some of the terraforming people have done over the top and it ends up looking weird. I can appreciate a natural looking island. That’s what I’m going for. A natural look. Want it to look like people found a beautiful island and slowly developed on it; nothing too over the top. Only thing I focus on a lot is my river, I want that to be perfect

It’s Probably obvious at this point, but no, it’s definitely not weird. I really like the natural shape of my island overall, so I haven’t done much in the way of terraforming. What I have done has been a little frustrating, but that’s mostly due to the tools not doing what I want them to do. 😝 But a Little bit of terraforming here in there to tweak things and nothing else is just fine. Play the way you want to!

I actually wish I didn't terraform! My island is still incomplete because I did. and i sort of regret it now because I'm stuck and it looks strange. lol

no! a lot of my island is flat, the flat land is easier to work with and develop

I've done very little to my Island. I wanted to leave it as close to the way it was day one and work with what I was given.. I'm not a fan of the heavily modified Island as most of them tend to look like megalopolises..

not at all! I've basically just adjusted some rivers and cliffs so that I can build what I want comfortably, but I haven't done anything too major because I wouldn't even know what to do with myself if I just gave myself full reign!

While I am not planning on leaving it untouched (especially around my private beach estate hahaha) I also don't think I am going to do any heavy remodeling. I, too, appreciate the natural island beauty😎🏝️

I have my villager plots where I want them to be (so satisfying, peace new leaf random plots) so I'm pretty content with my layout, maybe just a few changes. This is all subject to change if I see something/get inspired by a theme or something.

I don't think it's weird to not want to terraform, if you're happy with your island that's all that matters! I've terraformed quite a bit at this point, sometimes it's tricky to keep it looking natural looking. I tried to keep it more natural looking which meant no really straight rivers, not really square edges of cliffs.

I don't think that's at all a negative thing at all! Natural maps have plenty of charm, for sure. Even when it comes down to uniqueness, since there are so many randomly generated island maps, it's probably not very likely that any one person would run into an island just like their own, and that's without taking more substantial decorating into consideration.

dude not at all! it's honestly very exhausting esp if you're like me and spatial reasoning is not your forte

Not at all! I honestly really like my starting map and I don't plan on changing much. Most of my plans are just to even out the second level so it's not zigzagging all over the place. The idea of terraforming stresses me out though and I actually haven't tried it yet because I'm afraid of messing up my island and not being able to fix it. One day!

Should be way easier than opening that can of worm of terra-forming. Don't get me wrong, terra-forming is great but it gives you ALL of the options. If that corner is off, or you counted wrong and have to shift EVERYTHING over a tile, you can. That's a gift and a curse because if you leave it as is, that's because YOU as a player decided to not fix it, lol

It's cool to go either way depending on what you feel like doing with it. Personally I take a middle road where I terraform as needed to make stuff fit or work but I don't go waterfall crazy or anything, and I'm contemplating the idea of adding onto my cliffs because the majority of my island by nature is flat and it does feel a little weird... But then maybe it would be a fun challenge (albeit you'd miss some fish) to do a completely flat island like in WW/NL yknow? So many ways to do your island. There's creativity in every approach.

My personal suggestion is take it day by day and see how you feel about it. You might even change your mind about terraforming as you decorate your island a little more, I know I did!

edit because hecc I got a lil peeved there whoops

I felt this way at first but now I've fallen under the terraforming spell ever since I saw all the cool cliff photos on Pinterest and it's a curse

Yah, gift and a curse, definitely. Combine the ability to design it the way you vision it with other awesome looking islands, recipe for endless nights, ha.

It's deffo not weird! I decided to terraform A LOT (by which I mean that I don't think any original features are left at this point) but that's mostly because I like to switch up how I play, and this was something new I hadn't done before. It took a long time for me to start though, because I didn't want to commit to something I wouldn't want in the end. I am happy with how it is transforming, and I feel nostalgic looking at screenshots from before I started. But as long as you are having fun, you can't go wrong. Rather, anyone who tries to gatekeep how to play an ac game is just... I dunno, who even does that? Feels so weird to try to decide how anyone else should enjoy a game
