Is it possible to keep villager hunting forever without time traveling/altering the time?

So I had an idea while villager hunting: I remember reading that not leaving a building won't reset the day past 5 am, so ideally, you could keep villager hunting past 5 am reset as long as you had tickets in your pockets. I also read that opening your gates/having visitors over prevents the day from resetting as well, so I was wondering, if I were villager hunting past 5 am, and I ran out of tickets, could I just open gates and buy more tickets? And rinse repeat until I found my villager?
