Is it possible to adopt Sanrio Villagers from other towns?

Like can you adopt one of the Sanrio Characters out of someone's town? They are special but can they?

I believe someone said it wasn't possible to have them in your town unless you scanned their card.

You can adopt the Returning villagers, (That's how I got Raddle) but can't say on the Sanrio ones.

I've read both yes and no. Honestly, I don't even know anymore lol. I've read you can adopt them at the RV when you visit or in boxes when they get kicked out of the amiibo card holder's town or not at all! My advice, find someone willing to try it out with and then let everyone know XD

Yes, Sanrio characters can move in. However, like other special amiibo, you need to be the owner of the card in order to adopt them. You can't adopt the character from a friend's town.

Unfortunely it's been confirmed by several people who own the cards that you can't adopt the Sanrio villagers from other towns. Even if you move them in your own town and kick them out, people won't be able to come and adopt them. You have to be the owner of the cards, much like how the amiibo figures work

So sad for the other people who wanted some of special villagers. The dreams were crushed.

You can with the special villagers like Ganon and W Link, so I assume you would be able to with the Sanrio villagers too.
There's no reason not to really as you can move them in and out multiple times

And yes, to confirm, the Sanrio villagers can move in your town but only if you are the one who has scanned their cards. There's some dream addresses available with some of the Sanrio villagers living there. I went searching Japanese towns last night and found 2 within the first 5 on the list with Marty, Toby, Etollie and Rilla.
