Is it okay that I keep changing my island set up because I keep finding ideas that inspire me?

bruh do what makes ye happy. u can totally have more than one theme on an island, makes it more versatile and fun, imo.
if you're changing things every day, i don't see the problem. your island, your way. plus islands can get boring real quick if you just have the same stuff for a long time : P .
the worst mistake any NH player can make is caring what other people think of their island and/or trying to copy someone else's island x) u do u

ohhh, and for the pathways - crap, ik those take ~ f o r e v e r ~ but hey they're worth it especially if you like 'em

I never had paths on my island in New Leaf. I loved the look of them, but I could never make them work for my town. I hated accidentally kicking them up. That is the same reason why I don't do custom paths in New Horizons even though I love how the path looks.

It sounds like we play similarly. I decorate according to my villagers and I rearramge constantly because of that. My island is a massive bell sink because I keep moving buildings around. I have very little flowers and I am pretty sure the only reason I have 4 stars at the moment is my massive amount of seasonal decorations.

But I'm having fun and that is what matters!

Oh wow so many great responses! They all have the same central idea I see! Play how you want. There isn't such a thing as a "perfect" island and sometimes no matter how pretty the island it's not always functional and most importantly there are no rules on how to play so just have fun! 💕💕✨✨ Love this

It's OK. That's how inspiration works. It's like being an artist. You have your own style, but there are different types of art that influence you, so you try to create something similar to it while still retaining your own originality. It would be different if you said you were inspired and just totally ripped off the other persons idea, though.

It's ok but if it is making you unhappy, have you thought about just doing themed villager yards that are a good size and make the rest of the island pretty neutral or just stuff that you like?

I'm definitely of the mind set that it's a good thing to want to change your island regularly. You won't run out of things to do, and it's always fun, and you feel so accomplished when you have a small area completed! That's what I really like about seasonal things. You get your island decorated with them, and then the next season comes around and you get to do it again!

I was actually thinking that I could just pick up all the Spooky stuff... and sell them. Then when next year comes around, I have to re-craft them and everything. Gives me something to do every time! I'm definitely not doing that with items you have to buy though. Crafting is just something you can always do, so... why not?

But yeah, definitely keep giving yourself things to do! And forget about perfect islands. Once you build them... what do you do? I imagine it's harder to revert back and start over from that point. And with all the cliffs and everything like you tend to see, how do you even go about playing like normal? I would much rather be able to hop on my island and run around catching bugs and fish and talking to my villagers than have to carefully go around everything.

It's perfectly fine! :) This is coming from someone who has torn down her island 3 times already before settling on its current design. It may even be torn down again if I feel like changing it up. Feel no shame if your ideas suddenly change.
